Just poking my head back in for pickle...

Do ET with your bladder only just full, at the right time. I find it incredibly hard to hold my pee, so I googled and found advice on how to have a full bladder, but not too far in advance of when needed.

What worked for me was to empty my bladder an hour and a quarter before the appt time. Then, over the next half hour (i.e. up to 45 mins before), drink 2 pints of water.

It takes time for the water to reach your bladder (which is why you can't drink when you get there as it's too late).

I was worried I hadn't drunk enough, because until about 10 mins before the appt I didn't particularly need to pee. It all trickled through just in time though as I started getting uncomfortable just before we went in. :)

And huge congrats to GTS. :D

Hello PTP, nice to hear from you, how are you doing? I keep thinking of you.

Thanks for the advice, we live about an hour away from Oxford (and we will be early for appt) so my plan is to wee before I go then drink water on the way..

Fingers well crossed for you Picklekin.

Has anyone gone privately for SA tests for their OH? If so was it expensive? It has taken my oh 2 weeks just to get through and now his appointment isn't until 25th November!!

I have my appointment 4th November and I'm getting inpatient at the thought of having to wait even longer for ohs results etc.

Think pink - we aren't private but our consultant said that a SA would cost £600+ if we were. We were very lucky and booked ours within 5 days of ringing for an appt. This is for an in depth analysis, his standard SA was also NHS and within a few days. V sorry you have such a wait.

Not sure I have updated since our appt. OH has had a more detailed SA and we go back to our consultant in around 4 weeks for the results, if they are still poor but not terrible they will try me on medication (not sure what) but if they are very poor we will begin IVF. All suddenly seems very real. Our consultant's parting shot was 'go away and get pregnant' so I will do my best!

Hugs to all in need xx

Dh had a private SA in London for £100. From calling to book to getting results took less than 1 week so was worth it. Like you we waited 4 weeks for NHS + 3 weeks to get a result only to find there was an error on the test. I lost patience at that point. SA was done at London women's clinic.

    Hi all,
Took us 3 months for SA after booking it on the NHS!!!. It did delay things and the clock was ticking for us.
Am doing ok with stimms, got scan on Monday.
    Stalking you pickle :)
  • Help! I've had a letter through to make arrangements for a hycosy. How long does it take between the hycosy and starting ivf? When we spoke to the fertility specialist she said nothing would probably happen till about summer next year.

I don't feel ready! I thought I would have more time to get back to normal after my operation and have a good chance at conceiving naturally. I know I'm being ungrateful because I know some people are on the waiting list and desperate to get started but I really don't feel prepared. Ahh!

(I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Pickle.)

Sorry Clevernamehere, I never got that far so don't know what happens next. It probably wont happen til summer. You'll have a wait for the hycosy, then for the results, then there's a waiting list for ivf, so don't worry.

Also, you don't have to do it until you're ready. It's up to you.
