Don't worry PTP, your quite right, its daft. I just get this urge to DO SOMETHING. And am often at a loss as to what...
I think the emotional / mental health impact of all this is enormous, and actually I'd look at the cost of some of these things as paying to help with that side of it, you know? If something makes you feel better, nothing at all wrong with that. And as I said, some of it probably does a physical effect that I'm just ignoring completely!

Same here. At least I could pretend I had some kind of input to the situation. I'm normally a cynic too but at least I felt like I was doing something.. Besides fertility bracelets tend to be quite pretty. I still wear mine sometimes.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Hi ladies, would it be ok if I joined as well? Have been trying for 14 months too and have been to GP. Was told they normally wouldn't do anything until we'd been TTC for 2 years but due to my history reluctantly agreed to tests - I had cervical cancer and a radical trachelectomy just under two years ago (same op as T2D who I have had a bit of contact with and was a huge help to me)
So far have had day 21 bloods - all fine - and DH had a semen analysis which was borderline for one result. GP didn't actually refer us after tests but have now chased that up and waiting on an appt. DH has to do another sample in the meantime so is doing that this morning. He is being wonderful and the only think keeping me sane as to be honest I'm really struggling at the moment.
Also I'm nearly 34 and cut off for IVF is 35 here so that's adding to my general anxiety. Thank you for the advice posted already, it has been really helpful. Hi all,
Hi new girls and hope your not here for long.
So sorry VS *hugs*0 -
You don't have to whisper, girls
Shrimpy - welcome to you too. You've been through the ringer my love! Hope your referral comes through quickly. x0 -
Hi Shrimpy, welcome to the gang *pins on badge*.. (I went off at a tangent for at least ten minutes here wondering what our team logo should be....)
Are you in rubbish Berkshire or does another health authority have the same IVF rules? Its great that you have a good OH, especially as the "issue" might be with him if its borderline, I assume the Baggy Pants Order™ is in effect?
I am in a very odd mood this afternoon, feel a bit light headed. Told OH at lunch I'm not sure I can cope with IVF.. But he talked me back round. Found out today that I might be losing my job, at the very least I will have to reapply for my position... Its a crappy job, but its MINE.0 -
I felt exactly the same beforehand, pickle, and am feeling the same on occasion during the process!
Obviously it's a personal decision for everyone, and I know someone who adopted because they simply didn't want to go through IVF.
For me, I knew I'd regret it if I didn't try one cycle. I've said all along I'm reserving judgement on doing more cycles until I've completed one and know what the whole thing is like.
It is a serious process - you'll put your body and mind through a lot, but there's a 1 in 3 chance of a baby at the end of it.You get through it by thinking "you never know, this might actually work".
Sorry to hear about your job uncertainty.0 -
