faulty petrol pump ruined new boots

Because being naive at the time we thought if there was clear evidence on cctv of somebody reversing one car in to a stationary car at a petrol station we might be able to obtain it to show proof seeing as the guy that did it simply then drove to the next pump and when confronted with an upset woman... Flatly denied it ever happend, paid, and drove off.
(the rear door completely stored in with children in the back)
We thought it would be common sense.... Obviously not.
It matters not as we did get the reg of said car and reported it, eventually he admitted fault and we were paid out etc.
I was merely pointing out that petrol stations don't like just showing anyone cctv footage, weather they loose customers or not.
I do realise the circumstances are different though in this case.
I still think in reality the op who regularly fills the car should have realised it was full.
No company will just show anyone CCTV footage because there are stringent laws governing it.hope you are all recovered now!0 -
Name one car manufacturer who have a tapered tank with an integrated spout in a midern car. Oh, and provide a link to back up you claim.
Better still you tell me where I said a petrol tank has an integrated spout. I merely said the tapered part because lots have a rounded top which by definition would give them a taper.
Just try to imagine the inside of a tank when it's being filled, what will happen when it gets to the top?0 -

Ok, name one manufacturer whose cars have tapered spouts, similar to your description earlier. The physics involved is obvious wide tank tapering to a narrow spout1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
How the hell did this thread get to 7 pages?
I think the auto cut-off failed to work.0 -
You are being ridiculous, my description was accurate enough for non technical people.
No, you claimed that it was obvious physics and that it was correct. It is inaccurate, whether you are non-technical or not.
It's like you saying that grass is blue, and I say no, it's green, then you say that blue is a colour, so that's accurate enough for non-technical people.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Not sure how much driving you do but a lot of petrol stations are on busy noisy roads, it's not always possible to hear it.
My dad wouldnt hear it as wouldnt many others who are deaf or partially deaf
BUT I still think the OP has to accept some of the blame, I also do 500 plus miles a week and know when I start filling roughly how much I will be able to get in the tank and I also know that the auto cut off wont work if I pull the nozzle out a little and fill slowly to try and get a bit more diesel in0
