Kenwood Chef - which to buy?

  • Hi
l bought a A901 at a car boot today. l only paid £10.00 for it, in case it didn't work. However, it seems fine, but l found the bowl which is stainless steel was very hard to fit & the K mixer seems to be touching the base all the time. Any ideas? Also, could any one help me as to the age of this machine.
l also have a Kenwood Chef Excel, which l bought from a car boot several years ago. lt looks like l can interchange the attachments, which is great, but l don't know how old it is or if the Excel was a more expensive model than the A901.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.
  • Well done Doreen! I'm new to this Kenwood stuff but you can adjust the attachment so that it doesn't touch the bottom, helpfully I don't know how you do it but I know you can!

From my research, I think the 9 series takes the same accessories as the current models.

I have been considering buying a Kenwood Chef on ebay as I have a range of disabilities which make cooking some things quite difficult. I like to cook everything for my family and have found recently that my breadmaker is far too slow. I have been making the dough, kneading in the breadmaker then baking in the oven to save time. I would like a mixer that can handle kneading dough. Does anyone know what quantity of dough a Kenwood can knead in the bowl.

I also like to make my own soups broths and carrot cake but am unable to grate as I have problems with my hands. I have worn out two food processors this year and hoped to find a Kenwood, if that is the best machine for me, that has a grater attachment and also a mincer.
I have looked at some 701s on ebay but can't find out the kneading quantity or if they have graters and mincers that can be attached or that can be bought.

I hope some Kenwood cook can help me please. We don't have a lot of money so I would have to buy second hand on ebay.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the major and the chef? Are they both the same size bowl?
