And as you do this, I hear the sounds of some of the bankers get their heads out the trough just long enough to bleat about ethics and morals.

Anyone who can do this should.

And no offence regarding "bleat" ....!

I'm trying to set up DD's for Paypal, Netflix, and possibly a charity. How long do DD's take to show on your bank account?
Do they just have to be set up, or does at least one payment have to have been made before the switch?

Co-op says you have to switch within 14 days of account opening.. how do you know what date your account was opened?

Sometimes it's just before the payment is taken.

    The former.

I would count from the date of the "Current Account ... Application Update" email to be on the safe side.
The actual switch date is about two weeks after you request switching, so you'll have some more spare time.

Thanks grumbler. My email is dated 6th Oct, so I don't have long. I think I'll go in branch tomorrow to switch.
Is there any additional info they need apart from the 'old' account numbers etc?

I don't recall anything special, and everything can be done over a phone.

Don't think so chompie, I've done Halifax, M&S, and now onto Co-op, all done pretty much one after each other.

Re. the £800, does it have to be in one go, or could I put in £400, withdraw then put in another £400?

Is Halifax account not the one that you don't want to switch?
