Just don't give them the dry food - too much rice, our pets are meat eats after allHelp me to help you :santa2:0

I like to mix a bit of dry in sometimes, but my dogs mostly eat tinned Butcher's tripe and do really well on it.0

Almo Nature - try the lobster! & Applaws

Are these complete or complementary? Just looked on the websites and can't tell .... the Burns wet is definitely complementary, which leaves you needing to feed dry alongside?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
It's a bit of a minefield isn't it trying to find the right diet0

These both are complementary diets if feeding wet alone, but if you add the dry you give the cat a complete diet - I think the dry gives the vitamins and minerals cats need. Dental benefits are a myth.Help me to help you :santa2:0 -

It really is, and I have degree level qualifications in various biological disciplines including (human) nutrition!!I've moved Noah off Felix and onto Feline Fayre (not necessarily staying on this but anything is better than Felix), and off James Wellbeloved onto samples of various decent dry foods. Now reading up on natural diets but I really want some scientifically referenced websites to get my teeth into.
I don't see myself going down the BARF route full-time, but I genuinely can't afford Almo or Applaws wet.

I'll see if I can find any advice for you through some of our contacts (I work for the company who publish K9 Magazine so although dog related, it may be I can find someone with cat expertise for you) or some relevant links maybe.
I have heard lots of good things about BARF/raw diets but there's a lot of science behind is aswell isn't there.0 -
I've read quite a bit about this topic, and I'm currently doing a course with Animal Care College. There are a couple of really good websites; one I really liked was
http://maxshouse.com/feline_nutrition.htm
I was surprised to read about what is in the big brands, including Hills and Royal Canin with the iffy preservatives BHT and BHA.
Why did you move away from JWB? - perhaps this needs a new topic!Help me to help you :santa2:0 -
I think Almo Nature is the best and they are one of the only ones recommending dry and wet - same with Applaws. I was surprised reading about Hills - google dog food analysis; yes about dogs but I doubt the cat has much a difference in quality.
Also just trying Schesir wet food - it is a complete food but only in wet. My cat seems to be impressed.Help me to help you :santa2:0 -
Hello! thanks for this useful post.
I recently used http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/ and they were AMAZING - I ordered Friday afternoon and had my entire order correctly fulfilled by Saturday morning.
I've also used petsparade.co.uk with a lot less success - they took ages and then only fulfilled half the order until I complained. They did give me a freebie for the problems with my order though0
