Did 35 mins this morning. Looked at my legs whilst in the bath. No doubt about it. Big, hairy and varicose-veined. Probably a good job I`m a man.

Well done on the early start to week 5!

I tried the exercise bike and rowing machine at the gym for my 'wednesday' other activity. I have new muscles I have never felt before!

And I need to put some energetic music on the MP3 player and take it to the gym - there was hideous background music when I was on the rowing machine - made me very conscious of the time

That's why I can't go to gym, I get soo bored.

I took my MP3 out with me once whilst running and kept getting funny looks from people because I was singing along to the music, loud :o It did take my mind of the pain in my calf muscles though. I might try taking it again but the ear things are too big for my ears and keep falling out

  • Hi all

I have been jogging on the treadmill for a good year or so now, but I seriously am getting bored, I use to run years ago the maximum I got up to was 3 miles, anyway my friend who jogs all the time has asked me to do the half marathon with her I havent committed myself as if I am honest to myself I dont think I could do it.

I went out in the car yesterday and drove a 3 mile route and I am going to town to buy some jogging bottoms and a top and I reckon I am going to give it a real good try tonight

Its the first 2/3 minutes that kill me, but I have my mp3 on charge and I shall be listening to My Chemical Romance as it really gets me going.

This thread is fab, I shall also let you know if I end up going and how I get on.

Well done you :T Let us know how you get on. I wish I had someone to run with just to chat and take my mind of the time.

The first 2/3 mins gets me as well but after that it gets better for me.

Oh I always have a face like a beetroot afterwards - like this :o (now that the weather is warming up). Does anyone have this? I know it's perfectly normal but it's embarassing. :o

  • I've been thinking of taking up running and this programe from runners world seems great
:A this web site is heavenly :A
  • Yes my face also goes red, but it goes red whilst running also.

If I manage to find some bottoms today I shall be wearing a baseball cap so I cant really see anyone, I dont know about anyone else but I am well self conscious (sp) if people see me? I'd rather run in the dark.

    Where do you live Karrie?

Well today isn't a running day which is a good job. This morning I just did a bit of crosstrainer and walking on the treadmill but I got fed up about 40mins in and went home :) tho I did do a wash and clear out some old branches in the garden with the extra 20 mins so not time entirely wasted. Gonna try running again tomorrow morning early so I can get in for the start of the m&S sale :) Ros are you purposely doing leg-type exercises to build up for running? I definitely couldn't have managed an exercise bike today :)

Karrie on the red face thing I'm generally very very white (Irish!) but I swear I look like a tomato atop a snowman by the time I've finished. Seriously. I can't put on foundation for at least an hour after running cos it slides right off again. It's lucky I have a very high embarassment threshold for that sort of thing (and run at 7am when no one is around!)

And good luck tomorrow Michaela. I think I prefer running outdoors, less boring, though I do think it's harder on you too...let us know how you go.

I used to be self conscious but I don't care anymore. I am very proud of myself for getting off my backside and doing something.:D So don't worry, I am sure alot of people wish they had the balls to do it themselves but either can't or won't, for whatever reason. I know I used to look at runners/joggers and wish I had the courage to do it.

    I live in Cambridgeshire.
