Hi,at the age of 39 I started running 5 months ago, after signing up for the race for life, having not done any exercise since school I struggled to run for 60 seconds at the start, and used to run at 5.30am so nobody would see this red faced, slightly over weight woman puffing and panting.
Anyway, it was tough at first, and I never thought that I would ever be able to complete the whole 5k running, there were some weeks when I felt as if I wasn't making any progress at all, but to cut along story short, I completed the RFL in 36 mins running every step of the way !
Keep on going, it really does get easier
My next project is a half marathon, if I can do anybody can !

    Well done! :T

On a serious note though, will it give me 'sturdy' legs? I was hoping for toned legs......

What are peeps' experience on here re their body change??

Good question Loublue. I wonder if it depends on quite how much of you you're carrying around above the legs ;)

There's not many women runners with legs like rugby players. The sprinters have bigger thighs but I guess that because of speed training etc.

I took my ds to his athletic club tonight. It's a big athletic stadium. There were lots of women there of all sizes and ages and not one of them had rugby players legs. :D

Did 35 mins this morning. Looked at my legs whilst in the bath. No doubt about it. Big, hairy and varicose-veined. Probably a good job I`m a man.
