OMG I am crying with laughter here!!!
I had two pairs of culottes, both black, one long pair and one short pair. I loved the long pair, never thought the short pair were true culottes.
I also had blue mascara. I think it was a type of Bangles-esque look I was going for.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

I'd forgotten all about the blue mascara! Never wore anything else for years! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: what were we thinking?
Dare I mention the other fashion craze of the early 80s.......? The Ra-ra skirt! Thought I was the bees knees at the school disco with the purple Ra-ra dress! Got the outfit including shoes from the Premarni of the day. WEWW! What every woman wants. Think it was perhaps a Scotland only store, perhaps even Glasgow only???Busymumofthreeplusdog......

I was actually told, by a minister of the church, not to wear my little ra ra skirt because of the effect it was having on members of the congregation!! I wore it with one of those shirts with the high, frilly, round neck and thought I was being modest, but obviously not......
Oh to being able to stop cars in their tracks again and corrupt the clergy, those were the days!! Now I just use a white stick..... only joking x."I wondered why the Frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me". £9/£250

WATTIES!!!! We had one in Edinburgh. Up the Bridges. Loved that shop! It was huge. I didn't have a Ra-ra skirtWhen I eventually got a puff-ball skirt it was a really basic dusky pink coloured one. My bestie at the time had a beautiful bright pink and black one with ribbon and an underskirt and everything. My parents were poorer than everyone elses so we either got hand-me-downs from my cousin, we were the last to get anything "trendy" or we got the least most trendy version of whatever was "in" at the time, e.g. when I eventually got a My Little Pony it was the one that no one had heard of
:(
Still, great memories. Plus, I understand my parents' position at that time better now. However, their position now is better than ever...Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

My parents too! Do you think it has something to do with their early frugality? My parents both came from big families who didn't have two pennies to rub together! Despite being reasonably comfortable in their retirement they continue to live quite frugal lives. We keep telling them to splash out, to spend it on themselves! one day they will shock me with their round the world trip plans;)Busymumofthreeplusdog......

Can't make any constructive contribution to the conversation, suffice to say
Cullottees = had them, thought they were great! mine were black.
Russ Abbot = remember him.
any other clear thoughts have been lost to laughter XXXXNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Shortie, you are stunning! INOD's Pat Benatar video, really made me laugh. I could just imagine her as a rebellious teenager and all of us as her band of whacky friends, egging her on. We are pictured in the last few scenes (3 minutes onwards), it is worth a look x."I wondered why the Frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me". £9/£250

Possibly. My parents both came from families with one sibling each. My dad is from a family who had enough to get by. My mum is from a family who were slightly better off. We were always the poorest family in the (school) class. They only started having better holidays when I stopped going on them! Many a great memory from Haven and Hollymarine though. They may have their fancier holidays now but they still live in the house they bought when they got married 43 years ago and my dad is the biggest penny pincher I know. The only thing he doesn't scrimp on is the heating!
Sorry Skinty, but I'm having such great time here!
When I got back to the car after work last night I dug out my Power Ballads cd. I had a mini meltdown when I discovered the first disc was missing and spent 10 minutes looking for it in all the other cd cases. It was actually in the correct box but behind the booklet thingy. I put it on, pumped up the volume and I don't remember the drive home!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
