What a fab diary! I actually laughed out loud at the candle/face cream expenditure. I honestly think I could be mortgage free if I hadn't bought so many magazines in the past.

Will subscribe I love your writing style. X

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi!

All this talk of big 80's hair is making me smile. I would waste all of my £7 a week wage buying Smash hits, tapes, plastic bangles and earrings, scary pink lip gloss and blue eyeshadows - no idea why I thought blue eye shadow would look good on me!

I never saved any of my wage apart from near Christmas so I could buy pressies.

It's only recently my "live for today" attitude has become "live for today BUT save for tomorrow first"
  • Hi all xx

Thanks for reading, as always! Few things of note before we all get down to important business! (shuffles blank pages, like a newsreader. What's ON those pages? Shopping lists I reckon)

mothernerd - hiya lovely!! Thanks for your lovely post. I was channelling you today - picked up many many 5.30PM yellow sticker veggies and fish in my local Arseda. Calmly planning menus for the no man's land of week-before-payday. But all's good! Plenty of food in. We're gonna make it!! So impressed with your cinema trip story. What a fab day was had by all, you very much deserved those compliments xx

Shortie - loving the hair!! Will return to this shortly, bear with!

    INDirection - also bear with!

    girlatplay - hear hear!

muser1 - hi there, lovely to cyber meet you! Thanks for reading this insane dribble. Dribble? Drivel. What?

his missus - did you smell of Le Jardin, Anais Anais or Body Shop Dewberry oil? Those being the only three perfumes available in the 80s of course. Loving your look though! And your current motto.

    Right, next bit...

  • Lovely day at cinema with lovely friend! Felt bit wobbly as seemed to be spending too much dosh before we even got in our seats.

But...she paid for my ticket and my drink!!!

    So, yay!!!!

    Innit?

Er, well........oh god. Look, I know I'm being really stupid here. Have posted in the Frugal thread about this, saying firmly that she had done a lovely favour for me and I'll simply get the next one. No big deal.

But I can be a bit more honest in here. I felt like crap for a bit - but, it was a case of The Spiral that inneedofdirection talked about. Mine went 'oh god. I've become the friend that gets others to pay for everything. I officially sponge of people. I'm a tightwad. I'm the skint 38 yr old.......

    Oh, please do one.

Got a grip pretty quickly, said a big 'thank you' and simply said I would indeed get the next one.
It helps when I turn things around - i.e. if my friend was skint, I'd get this one.

    End of.

Cuban Fury - a good film!! Really funny and a happy ending.

Go and see it with a good mate xxx

  • Right. Right!!

It is becoming increasingly obvious in here that some sort of supergroup tribute act is being formed, one that is clearly going to be The Very Bestest Thing The Universe Has Ever Seen (And That Even Includes 'Oh What An Atmosphere' by Russ Abbott).

Lines are being drawn. Spiritual sheroes are being channelled!

    BIG CHEMICAL INDUCED HAIR RULES!!

    So who ARE we??

    To summarise progress so far:

    RainbowBridge - Debbie Harry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGU_4-5RaxU

    Mothernerd - Patti Smith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSVd8szH7Qk

    inneedofdirection - Pat Benetar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjY_uSSncQw

Shortie - Alanis Morrissette - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jne9t8sHpUc OR, on account of blonde spikedness, maybe this fab lady? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktRsl2hAPhY

    Skinty - no question http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cw1ng75KP0

We're taking shape!!! Now, all other contenders and readers of this bewildering scribble- please step forward. In the history of big hair, who are YOU?

There is no snobbery here. We can cross boundaries and genres. Hell, we can cross genders - plenty of big bouffant blokes out there. Where do you fit? Disco? folk? Soul? Rap?

Please reach inside for your big haired alter ego!!

The beauty of this fantasy alter ego is....we're not physically spending any dosh on mahussive cans od ozone killing hair spray woooooooooooop :rotfl: !!

LOL!!!!!! I had completely forgotten about Russ Abbot and Bella Emburg - I spent my Saturday night growing up with The Russ Abbott Show :rotfl:

I'm logged onto work at the mo and sat behind their firewll so I can't view the YouTubes yet - but at least you didn't choose Paul Young from the 80's for the spikey/boufant top (not that I have a mullet :rotfl:)

OMG you just reminded me that I had a perm at one point too - but I was too lazy to do anything other than brush it so I spent a long while as one MASSIVE ball of frizz :rotfl::rotfl: Thank goodness I have naturaly dead-pan straight hair otherwise I'd spend all my adult life with super-frizzas I'm still quite lazy with my hair!
