I do get out in the real world on my bike regularly! I also notice that I am nearly always the only road cyclist actually adhering to the rules of the road or allowing other road users any sort of common courtesy. I've even had names shouted at me before by other cyclists seemingly for being stupid enough to stop at a red light! In the 20 years I've been cycling on the roads, I've never once had a single encounter with another vehicle!

If I can do it, what's wrong with the rest of them? I would wager it is a simple case of arseholism.
I agree. Chronic arseholism. You should see a doctor.

Fair enough, it's a man driving. But even so, you still see NOTHING at all wrong with the cyclist's behavior?

Now who's suiting their own agenda?
Intended for me?. I've never claimed the cyclist was faultless. He was obviously extremely annoyed at being dismissed and possibly having his foot run over.
I haven't got an agenda. Just an opinion on this video.

Possibly having his foot run over? That's nowhere in the video.

In that case, how do you know the cyclist didn't start hitting the car? That's nowhere on the video but equally as possible.

I'd also forward that if the cyclist had produced a baseball bat and started smacking the hell out of the car, my bet is that given this was filmed by another cyclist, it would have been nice and neatly filed under B and never seen ever again.

LOL. Awww, look at you. Trying to reverse context. Awww aint'cha!

I reckon cyclists are just annoyed at always being sweaty even though it's freezing, while us car drivers are nice and comfy, with awesome heaters the benefit of arriving to work not smelling like a fish farm!

My point was that someone previously eluded that I have no idea what it's like to be a cyclist. I was correcting this thought.

I was also offering that I regularly see cyclists barely giving car drivers - or even pedestrians - more than a passing thought especially on London's roads.

And you're right, it doesn't matter what I do, or say... the law is on the law of the cyclist always which means you can act with impunity. This is why every single cyclist, as soon as they're out on the road, behaves in a manner I wouldn't even expect in a children's playground. Then they get all butthurt when they do themselves an injury or a car driver reacts in a manner such as this instead of taking their lesson from that cyclist like a good little boy and maybe begging forgiveness!

Sorry, you lose all creditability with that massively sweeping generalisation.

I drive a car, ride a motorcycle and bicycle and would never dream of acting in such a way, which ever mode of transport I am using.

I cycle and drive a car too. It's rare that I come across a fellow cyclist that doesn't break just as many if not more rules than the average car. For ever car that enters a cycle block at the lights, there's another cyclist somewhere ignoring the fact that a light is red.

Also, lose credibility? I'm a username on an Internet forum. In what way do you or I have any credibility to start with :D

I find it amazing that nobody is commenting AT ALL that in nearly all these cyclist vigilante videos, they say stuff like "Ya stupid woman" and all this carry on.

Really gives an insight as to what the average cyclist is actually like. Worse than a BMW driver if you ask me!

Guys lets at the very least keep this argument civil...

ie no swearing and ideally no personal attacks just because you don't agree with an opinion. Dispute the opinion by all means, but do so in a way that won't see this thread dissected or closed by admin because of the magnitude of abuse.

  • Well now here's the exact problem:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktFbgwTfrbE

This guy turned left on a red into a buses only lane. He got pulled over by a copper and given a fine of £16.00. But he was on a complete scout's honor to actually give them correct details.

The police then spent DOUBLE the time telling the cyclist to shop motorists yet this cyclist got away with his offense with downright impunity. This was after they basically said "Don't worry, we're not here EVERY day, so ya know... you'll get away with it if you're lucky!"

If it was a car driver turning on red into a bus lane, he would have had several chunks of his rear end torn out. But because this guy is a cyclist, it's "Oh yeah, like, pay a fine maybe if you actually give us your real name... and make sure you shop in any motorists you record too!"

There's something right backwards about all this!
  • I do agree with this dude though!

The Audi driver was not blocking his passage on the road. Correctly or not, the move was clearly an attempt to prepare to overtake the cyclists amassing in the cycle area. Nobody likes being stuck behind cyclists riding five-abreast giving no heed to car drivers who wish to overtake. I know this, you know this, every one of those cyclists knows this and the Audi driver knew this.

Not going to argue the legalities here, but that's what happened. And really who would it have hurt?

I think the problem is that the Audi driver seems to lack basic situational awareness.

He is right in the City of London, the place is clogged with traffic, you aren't going to get anywhere in fast because it's an endless procession of traffic and traffic lights.

He is an aggressive ar*ehole trying to perform a completely pointless manoeuvre in a place where it won't benefit him at all.

And the cyclists aren't riding five abreast, they are waiting at the front of the queue, and when the traffic moves off they go in single file keeping to the edge of the road except when overtaking.

The Audi driver shouldn't be on the roads. The roads are not a race track, they are a public amenity, and if you can't behave in a vaguely selfless manner you shouldn't be using them.
