Hi everyone. Good luck with everything Thriftylass, it must be so exciting :j

Well today I began my battle with Virgin Amex :D Paid £500 to them as I got paid today and I paid back my sons bank account. It feels really good, because in september last year, I made my plan of how I was gonna become debt free. Every month, has what my total should be and I'm on track :D The icing on the cake would be to clear it by the end of the year.

Can you believe we have one more day of fighting Zombies before we turn into hares :D.

Due to an emotional blip, I really have no idea what my totals are I'm afraid :o but I feel the SFD's were met and the exercise about 95% . Will do better next month!Good luck everyone and a huge well done to us ALL :T

Spoke to my dad today and he was talking to me about my credit card... it's variable news.

I have enough money to pay £700 off my card which sounds brilliant... but £500 of that is from the holiday I have in December.
So only paying off £200 from the credit card. However, the holiday is an annual trip I take with my mum, auntie and cousin so can't really get out of it.
    :o

So on the plus side, the debt is slowly coming down which is good and for the first time I have managed to pay off the holiday as soon as we have bought it so that's positive.
On the negative side, it's not as fast as I would have liked. I am still hoping to get the debt gone by December 12th.
    :undecided

We now have plans for the money from January 2015 so want the debt gone by then.

Contemplating suggesting to Hubby that for Lent we should try to eat on a miniscule budget for a week. Completely value brands and basics and donate the money saved to charity. Do you reckon he'd be on board with that?;) This the guy who gives up something every year (chocolate, bread, alcohol,) and fails after a week. Last year he told everyone he was giving up smoking...he doesn't even smoke!:rotfl::rotfl:

This is a fab idea! I'd forgotten Lent starts next week (more importantly - this means pancake day!!) I gave up men for Lent once, it was great. Acquired the OH shortly after though, don't think he'd be too amused if I tried that again! :p

Hi just reporting in with a spend day today. 2 newspapers for Aldi vouchers and some parrot food. Pesky bird couldn't wait until Saturday  Only joking he doesn't cost us much and I don't begrudge him a SFD if he runs out of food.

No LTW but I think I've given up on that this month but will start again in March with new dedication.

Have a great last day of Feb everyone and try to avoid those zombies as we are all so close :D

  • SarahB, I use a note pad for the shopping list and then down the side of the list I note down what I am making each day so I know what I need to put on my list! This then sits in the kitchen for the week so if DH is home earlier and is so inclined he can start cooking..(only happened once in the last 6 months). I did want a fancy chalkboard to put it on but realised this was still just spending money I didn't need to!

Aww, Kat, one of my grandma’s was a Nellie – I love it as a name. Don’t think DH and I will have kids, or if we do, we’ll adopt so the naming won’t be up to us, so you should carry on the next generation of Nellies! I love Queenie and Violet and Ruby etc too, those old school names, good luck Thrifty – how exciting!

Right, better go and check out March’s Madness… gonna be a bad month for us and a lot going on also. In fact I am in the big smoke seeing friends from Saturday to Monday so won’t be able to join in till the 3rd, but I am pretty sure the will be no NSDs from the 1st to the 3rd… sigh!

    Howdy Slayers

So.. Having survived the zombie apocalypse and made it to the end of Feb, we are ready to march on into March! Managed to slip my 15th SFD in today by the skin of my teeth which is a result but didnt reach my exercise target at all! Ne'er mind, can't have it all can we! :D..

Favourite day of the month today as it's pay day! :j Overdraft settled and money put into savings.. I have budgeted £300 spending money for the month on food, fuel and fun which should be more than adequate and I have £250 to spare..

Im not sure how my finances will pan out towards the end of the month as this will depend on whether I decide to have dental treatment now or wait until May when I can pay for it in cash.. There is no rush to get it done, its not giving me any pain or discomfort so I may just put it on hold for a couple of months rather than put it on my credit card.

I may also end up moving address toward the end of the month if I find the right gaff at the right price and this might be costly what with removals, deposits and advance payments.. I am a little torn about moving as my head is telling me to stay put as its cheaper for the time being but I am craving more space! :think:We shall have to see what comes my way but spending will have to be kept to a minimum after last months mega splurges :p

Going to have an early one tonight and catch up with much needed beauty sleep  So I will bid you all nighty night and see you mad marchers on the other side :j

  • Ooph! Am glad to be sitting in bed now.

The day started well, in a relaxed mode. Dh does dd on a thurs, so I usually have a slow start before work. Well dd woke early so we had a chat about her NOT moving her arm so that her collarbone can mend! Tough for a 6 year old to apply. Anyhows, off I trundled to work and 1/2 way through first lesson, got a text from friend who was to get dd from school for me, saying that she couldn't do it. Not on a whim, mind! Genuine reason. So had to ask a colleague for a massive favour - to cover my last lesson so I could scoot off to get dd myself. It all worked out fine, but I don't think I've fully unwound from running around and sorting it all out yet!

Nabbed another NSD though, and have made the 15 - phew. No naughty step for me! :T

Am grateful for sunshine, for lovely work colleague, for thick dark purple crocuses, for the fence still standing (ish), and for dd getting to sleep before 9pm.
