  • Sorry it's taken me so long to post. Got things moving on the house front and OH is going through a tough time so my time has been elsewhere.

Was going to be 5th SFD today, only had to buy petrol but that was budgetted. However, I'm cream crackered, grumpy and hungry, so I'm treating myself to a takeaway!!

Budgets are all set, just need to get to a cashpoint. Here's a quick summary of my February:

You will aim for 15 SFD’s I will do this this month
Pay towards debts first Took a safe bet, paid £200, but it's still progress. Will transfer what's left in the bank at the end of the month
Set your budgets before the beginning of the month Haven't made it to the hole-in-the-wall yet, but I will
Reduce your supermarket expenditure Reduced my budget by £20. I'm hoping to hardly spend anything with being away for a week and fairly well stocked up
Food cupboards are to be honed and toned first Making a list and checking it twice
Meal plan and use your freezer Working on this one, thinking cap is on!
Plan your supermarket shops around yellow sticker timing Going to struggle with this one. I am a selective eater and kind of stuck in my ways with what foods I will buy etc. Also I can never seem to get to the supermarket at the right time
£3 - £5 must be spent on your local food bank Going to look at sainsbos tomorrow for a foodbank box, if not, there is one just by work.
Personal Development Still mulling this one over
Get a notebook which will be used to plan what you will do once debt free and be used to keep track of all spending. How do they tally?.. How much are you spending could be put towards a course to improve your work life..? Still mulling this one over
Fitness. 3 times a week / 30 minutes each time Still doing the Couch25K
De-clutter. I've already done loads of this, but need to start doing some more, things are moving on the property front and I know it's going to hit sooner rather than later
Outings must be reduced Got a few days away with the OH in half term week, budgetting £300 for this, it comes from savings, but hoping to bring a lot of it home with me
When zombies attack you won’t be able to stop for a coffee No problem with this one, I can't have caffeine and i don't like the fancy juices

Hismissus – I hear ya re the cats costing more than kids! It has felt like that for us these last few months. I think the vets are sick of the sight of us (but maybe not our bank card!)

Gosh, Mothernerd, how stressful and scary – hope it all gets finally resolved soon..

Well I am glad I don’t live in the big smoke anymore, the strike sounds like chaos! And I hope those with monster colds feel better soon – mine is so reluctant to leave me. Also hoping all in the south are doing ok in the storms… (and get safely off roofs!)

Managed SFD 2 and a swim today so feel like I am properly off the blocks. Also, was too busy to get back to the car and get me sarnies at work today so had no lunch (naughty I know) but that means I eat today’s lunch tomorrow, and I had tomorrow’s lunch for dinner tonight and thus I am a meal in hand in my planner – yeay!

Big stressful thing at work finished today and feeling like we are well into February now and thus must be heading towards Spring – finally!

So, in summary, feeling good. But, if the last few challenges are anything to go by, the mid - month slump is just around the corner! But, at least I know it's there and can slap it down, just like the pesky zombies!

    keep safe and well slayers...

    Evening all,

Good luck to those of you experiencing terrible weather. We had a short sharp blast of rain and now it is blowing a gale, fingers crossed that the fences stay in place! We lost a small one last month but our neighbour replaced it and we agreed to split the bill, but he hadn't billed us yet, so maybe he forgot :)

Today was SFD number 4 :) Walked the dogs for exercise and took my lunch to work :) Also did another tutoring session to earn money towards the debts, although it's cash so have to wait to pay it off the ccard.

Got another 11 hour day tomorrow due to patents evening after school, so having an hour on the sofa in my onesie before bed.

Hope you've all stayed safe and dry, and away from the zombies!

    Hi All,

Another SFD for me today so that's 3/15. Took LTW again so 3/20. Not a bad start and I aim to keep it up.

Still only on 3/28 on declutter but most of this work will take place on the weekends when I have more time. After work and dinner I really don't have the motivation to start decluttering areas plus it takes most of the evening to read through the posts on here and the other couple of threads I subscribe to. Perhaps next month I need to reduce the number of threads I follow but I definitely will be following this one NSK :D

Just going to sit on the sofa for a while cuddled up with my 5 dogs before going for an early night. My favourite time of the day. So much love and fuss only problem is OH feels a little left out as its only a 2 seater sofa :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Night all

Hi everyone. A good couple of days for me. Two more NSDs which is good. Had a meat-free day yesterday, I'm trying to eat less meat so I'm seeing if I can have some days without. I managed a run on Monday evening and walked to work yesterday (inspired by NSK and her walks to work). It's only a short walk so I'm not counting it as exercise for this challenge.

I had a good using-up day yesterday and today. We had roast chicken on Sunday so I made a stock with the bones. I made some soup with the stock and used up a carrot and some celery in it which would have been thrown away. I made my lunch to take to work on Monday (coronation chicken - delish!) and had some more of the meat with pasta and half a jar of chilli tomato sauce that was going begging in the fridge for tea. I used up the last of the chicken meat tonight in the soup.

Has anyone seen this blog '100 Days of Real Food' I stumbled across it earlier this week and it sparked something in me. I was wondering if it was something I could do. I just wondered if anyone else tries to eat unprocessed food most of the time and what their experience was.

It's been interesting reading everyone's posts. We all lead such varied lives don't we? I live in the north of England in quite a small village. Hearing your woes of tube strikes and mobile homes just made me think about how such a wide spectrum of people can come together and share something. Thanks NSK for making this possible and keeping us all grounded.

(Wish I could insert smilies but for some reason I can't!)

    Take care all. x

    evening all,

thanks for the link nsk- will have a go :)

so would have been a sfd today but had to renew my visitor parking permit at £42 as need it for next week when british gas come :( no off road parking as i live in a terrace so have to pay for this as well as my own permit :(

tomorrow will be a sfd as i plan to walk to city at lunch (no free bus from work anymore :() to return my library books so i dont have a fine as already renewed them the max times. will pick up the permit and also get my free toiltries bag from benefit ;) then doing a salsa class in the evening as got a deal for some lessons which i have already paid for :)

i am soooo tired now as done step class again. it really has killed my poor legs. whilst in the long run it will help me escape from zombies, if they came in now i dont even have the energy to get off the sofa:o

thats three gym classes in three days. they do a class called grit cardio at my gym which is small groups and very intense (instructor runs around shouting at you!). debating whether to book a block or not as you have to pay extra but hopefully should see good results. if you book 10 you get 2 free passes for a friend so if i can persuade my friend to come we could probably swap the 2 passes and have 12 each :D it looks like proper torture though! :p

Hi chickadee, I tend to eat unprocessed food as I have to be gluten-free and when I was diagnosed I chose to change my way of eating rather than use thr g-f substitues that cost an arm and a leg. That said, when I think about it, I do still use jars, tins, packets. So I guess I'm more processed than I think. It would be interesting to do a self-audit - oooh another chance to colour-code things and use highlighters!! I like the Primal Blueprint approach, so maybe I need to commit for 100 days... Thanks for the heads up on this.

  • Evening all. SFD number 4 for me today. Lunch to work, and supper out of the freezer.

Not managed a run since Saturday as the weather here has been horrendous. Wind, rain, wind, rain, and yet more wind, rain. It's been quite scary at times - a piece of the roof at work fell off today (admittedly the building has been sold and we are moving out this year, but even so).

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Hugs to all those who need them, and hope those who are ill get better soon.

Have a good Thursday everyone and will check in again tomorrow!

great news- mum has just phoned and my grans house has gone up in value so she said I can have £1k which wipes out my debt to her!!!! :j:T:money::beer:

i had my share 3 years ago when i bought my house and she has just had it valued for my brothers share as he is buying a house now so has discovered it has gone up :j

so debt is now only £1350 :j wont quite manage to clear that by end of march but will clear in april with quite a bit of aprils normal payment left over. as i get paid and get rent on 20th then dfd is probably 20th april :A

as i am not physically getting £1000 i will just carry on with the plan for fridge freezer/ holiday/ window and bedroom but should then end up with £1k emergency fund by end of year :T

edit- ok i cant add up! if i can manage £650 payments for feb and march then im only £50 short :D so i only need to find an extra £50 to be debt free by 31 march :T:j:beer: even i have to just reduce personal spends if i cant get any extra. so exciting :j
