Pancakes for breakfast (with stewed apple), then, er, 'crepes' for lunch (er, pancakes) with egg and cheese
and then bizarrely the nice lady up the road just sent one of her children round with a home made crumble and a tin of custard
:j :j
Hooray for cheerful neighboursand tasty (and free, and made by someone else) crumbles
:j :j

Well i'll happily give you the ones next door Mila but you're not having the crumble ones
:rotfl: In fact, you could move in next door instead then we might all get crumble :j :j :rotfl:
Been and stocked up on paint etc and treats - saw the mechanic in the supermarket looking all clean and well scrubbed with his wife :rotfl: he was laughing at me as I was entirely covered in paint :rotfl: no point getting hanged just go go and buy more paint!! :rotfl:
FINALLY brought the two futon mattresses in out of the car  good grief, those things are NOT made to be carted between car and attic on a regular basis  need a lie down now! :rotfl:
Got the evening to myself so going to do a bit more painting and then have a nice bath and do some knitting :j0 -
Right - Mr Cheery is out, the water is heating up for a bath, and my gooseberry jam (or rather jelly, as I haven't cut the ends off so I'll have to strain it) is bubbling away on the stove :j How very civilised
So I need a plan...
6.45-7.15: finish scraping bathroom windowsill, paint with primer, ring auntie while I'm doing it
7.15-7.30: fill holes in cladding and pipe boxing, ring sister while doing it (I know I should sit gloriously in an armchair while ringing family members and focus only on them but, well, if I did that I'd never ring them at allthey're used to it now...
)
7.30-8: final coat of gloss paint on attic stairs
8-8.15: run bath, hoover bathroom and do YNAB
8.15-9.15: nice soak and a read of my book :j
9.15 curl up with a cheery film and my knitting :j0 -
Hmm, on the phone for rather longer than I imagined, and couldn't do the scraping while I was talking, so not progressing as much as I'd hoped...Cheery_Daff wrote: »

Well now I'm out of the bath and, having read something about pensions on Squirrel's diary I'm now thinking about mine... urgh...
It's SO easy to ignore:eek: I have a decent pension through work so it'll build up whatever I do. But having changed jobs I'm now automatically enrolled with a new provider, and I have about 4 months left to decide whether to merge them all into one (which one?) Or keep them separate.
And I confess I have NO idea of the implications, and no idea where to even start working them out
Guess I need to do some reading...
Not even sure of figures without looking. Old one I paid 6% ish of salary, employer matched with 16% I think. New one I pay 10% (again, I think...), and I think emplyer still does 16%. So its getting a fair whack paid in. Obe is a government-type one, the other some kind of investment thingy (I don't even know the proper words)
In the new one I have option to make additional voluntary contributions but they are invested in a different way and might go down as well as up (also have the option to go with ethical investing for that bit I think).
Oh dear. I feel both slightly queasy and rather bored when I think of such thingsMight start with reading something on this site - break myself in gently

Good idea to educate yourself before making a decision. When you are my age you will be thankful you did. Your work may have someone to help with advice. My DD2 called a guy through her company and he was extremely competent, patient and helpful. She made some changes and feels like she has a handle on things now.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Good plan Mila. I definitely will thank myself in the future, you're right. From an internet wander last night swithig between these two is quite common so a fair bit of info out there which is good.0

Morning chums :hello:
Well I am feeling invigorated after walking for an hour or so in the drizzle, slightly tired after an unintended late night and disturbed sleep with SO many odd dreams, and vexed because clearly my pedometer was lodged in a not-quite-optimal position in my bra (no pockets!) And has only registered 2456 steps when I know full well I have walked at least 3 miles, if not closer to 4, so I should be at least at 6000 by now if not nearer 8000  :rotfl:
On train for my monthly visit to my old job (I still work on a project with them, I'm not just being nostalgic! :rotfl: ) Have packed my lunch and everything so no buying food for meTrying to make sure we squirrel away my pay rise rather than letting it fritter into normal everyday spending. Over the years this has been a reasonable strategy amd a good way of upping savings so I'd like to carry it on :j
Would quite like a cup of tea now mind you:rotfl: but on train tea is rubbish anyway and I'll be there just after 10 and since I had a cup about 7.30 (hours ago!) I'm pretty sure I can wait :rotfl:
