I used recipes and everything
Sadly neither of them were that nice and now there's a giant pile of washing up :rotfl:
I am, I am :j - I missed it though, what wif been on holidaze 'n stuff! Sorry! What do you think wasn't quite right? What curries did you make?
I agree with rtandon - your new rule is cool. i bet that you end up getting nearly as much done in far less time, as you'll be more focused and less fazed by the list of chores. I'm definitely getting more done lately by 'nibbling' rather than 'gorging'
Greying XPounds for Panes £7,305/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023

Ha, love the idea of nibbling the decorating :j :j :rotfl:
I'm going to use that all the time now
What curries did I make? Er... a "smashed marrow" curry (I'm on phone so can't find link but you could probably find it just searching for that), a d something with runner beans.
Marrow one just had onion, garlic, marrow, and onion and mustard seeds I think - didn't have anything curry flavoured and ended up tasting of nothing so I put curry powder in, but understandably it was rather "marrowy" - wouldn't bother doing that with a marrow again...
Runner bean one, again just onion, garlic and runner beans, turmeric this time, and it said to add garam masala near the end but it tasted far too sharp and odd - I ended up adding a load pf passata too. Both were slightly better the next day but still not great! Normally I just bung a giant load of veg and chick peas/lentils in with curry powder etc so I might start doing that again!
For now though, Mr Cheery has taken over the cooking againlast night we had omelette and cbeese scones and I have leftovers to take for lunch

I'm a nibbler these days. I used to get great massive amounts done in my younger days but now that I'm of a certain age
:rotfl: I take my time. I too seem to get more done and do a better job by setting small goals to complete. So much more enjoyable!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Well that's it - nibbling is now part of the Cheery Household Vocabulary
:j
If only I could apply the "nibbling, not gorging" approach to food...:rotfl:

Thanks Greying
hoping to find something more successful to make this weekend
Just heading back to work after the dentist... part of a filling fell out yesterday and apparently the dentist wasn't surprised as behind it was a big load of decay...Goodness, I hate it when things go wrong with my teeth - don't at all mind going to the dentist, mine is lovely and gentle, and in fact today the only reason I didn't doze off was because he kept asking me to open my mouth wider :rotfl: No, I hate it because it always feels like I should have done a better job of looking after my teeth, like some kind of moral failing
Anyway, I"ve now got a numb face and an appointment to go back in a couple of weeks just to make sure nowt else is falling apart (I know for a fact I'll need at least one more filling, gah!)
Oh well. Walked over to dentist, about half an hour (roughly 1.5 miles) and used my student card on the bus back so that was only £1 :money:0 -
Gosh, I've had a right afternoon! :eek: Ate 2 boiled eggs when I got back from the dentist and have had excruiciating indigestion all afternoon! :eek: Never had that before - possibly because I just ate them and nothing else, and it was before a meeting so I stuffed them in quite quickly, and probably didn't chew properly cos my mouth was still a bit numb
Anyway, over and done with now thank goodness! And I have the evening to myself, so a little list :j :j
8-8.30
* YNAB and banks
* send diploma email
* send another email I've been putting off for no good reason
8.30-9
* run bath
* spend 15 mins tidying in kitchen
* put away bag of stuff in wardrobe
9-9.45
* have a nice bath and read my book
* paint nails
9.45-10

Pesky MSE won't let me make things pretty colours for some reason, darn it!
Right, off to finish my tea then I'll crack on0 -
Well, most of it got done, albeit in a higgledy piggledy order :rotfl:Cheery_Daff wrote: »8-8.30

Finances can wait til tomorrow - it's the end of the month after all so there's no point doing it twice at this stage:rotfl:
Night all :hello:0 -
Hi Cheery - wow, you did a lot yesterday! I love the timing thing that you do, but I know I'd never do it in the evenings, I'd rebel against my own plans
Sorry to hear about fillings and indigestionI've had that with eggs eaten on the run :mad:
Two really important questions: what are you reading, and what colour are your nails?
:T:j:T:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Evening :hello:
I did do everything in the wrong order KC:rotfl: but on those scarce evenings when I'm home alone it's easy to lose four hours on the internet :eek: a bit of a timetable makes me think 'right, now move on to the next thing' - even if I don't always stick to it, I do usually get *some* things off the list done
And now I've done YNAB too :j :j Although I don't know why I'm jumping up and down as I have to admonish myself a little for spendinessSome interesting points... (and again, sorry, but MSE won't let me do colours!!)
* oddly, I spent just under £30 on socialising - that's tea and cake and lunch with friends, but without Mr Cheery. YNAB informs me my average per month (this year) is £47.15 :eek:(not sure I approve of this 'average spent' feature :eek:
:rotfl: )
* Just under £60 spent on clothes, when my average is around £20 - but I have bought new knee high boots which will last the winter, a new bra (and it's SO comfy and SO much better than the saggy old ones I might have to buy it a companion next month), and a couple of woolly jumpers/cardis from charity shops, so not a normal month at all.
* £85 on diesel :eek: but I think we've had a couple of trips to see Mr Cheery's family this month, and the car is still three quarters full so if we don't do another big family trip we'll last til November now.
* £182 on food :eek: :eek: Food technically doesn't even come out of this account!!! :eek: :eek: So this isn't a 'big shop', this is bits and pieces on the way to work and the way home (Admittedly partly because big shops have been happening less and less as we're getting lost in decorating). Still, quite scandalous, and we can do MUCH better :eek: A challenge for next month. Average is apparently £65 so might try to get down to that!
* looks like I've got £75 of work expenses to come back - need to put a claim in for that next week
Other than that, saving for annual bills is looking good - TV licence, house insurance etc all nicely topped up and waiting their turn, and there's £165 in the dentist fund (which is a good job, given what the dentist said to me a couple of weeks ago) MOT was only £90, so most of the rest of what I'd saved for that got poached for elsewhere, but there's still £85 in the car maintenance fund and that will build up again nicely.
Christmas fund has been well and truly pilfered but I've plonked £60 in and need to get stashing into there again pronto - it's not that far away! :eek:
No Quibble and Holiday funds between them standing at £110 but we've not got anything booked in for the rest of the year, although I anticipate by Christmas we'll need a couple of nights at the seaside.
And house moving fund is standing at £7230 :j :j All good
So - a couple of challenges for this month (namely round food and my discretionary spending) but otherwise all good
