Morning :hello:
Just realised I never answered ypur questions KC, my apologies!I ended up painting just ONE nail, my big toe, that I'd chipped the polish off
Painted it the same colour as the others
a nice dark grey-purple colour. Been meaning to paint finger nails the same for weeks but there always seem to be some kind of mad DIY going on instead. Perhaps now I've abandoned that in the week I'll do them tonight :j
And what was I reading? Vinland, by George Mackay Brown, an Orkney writer I'm very fond of. Trying to keep a liat of everything I'm reading on the blog if you're interested
Speaking of DIY, i finished painting the bathroom cladding yesterday :j :j Looks SO cheery in there now (although in the bright daylight I notice I've missed a couple of bits:rotfl: ) Took all the dust sheets and paint tins out this morning, reattached the toilet seat (one of the screws keeps coming out of the back, damn thing), and gave the floor a good sweep, but I can't find the rest of the carpet tiles to put down :rotfl:
Got to go to work for a couple of hours now (shocking but I'm taking Friday off in lieu) but when I come back I'll tile the windowsill and do a bit of touching up of the paint, get Mr Cheery to reattah the radiator and then I *think* the bathroom will be done
Going to have to do a bit of grout whitening before we sell and et a new shower curtain but those are "normal" maintenance and primping - the decoratig will be all done (in that room at least :rotfl: ) :j :j
Must go and get changed, can't go to work all covered in paint!0 -
Evening all :hello:
Excitement today - popped to P0undland and EVERYTHING was reduced to 90p! :money: Got some more tiles for the kitchen floor :j and a few other bits and pieces :j :j
That's it - not that exciting really:rotfl:

Cheery - tips on improving my pace please?! Husband and daughter came to do parkrun with me yesterday (which is brilliant!) but I really do want to improve my speed.. Any handy tips?
As always I remain in awe of all you achieve .. I think I'd like to see some before and after picsLBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go

Hi Stepup :hello:
Not sure I'm the best person to ask about speed - parkrun this week took me 37 mins and I've never broke 30 mins:rotfl:
However, I do know the theoryand I have put it into practice occasionally
I'd say to get faster you have to spend some time goig faster
just a little bit at first, sprinkle a few 20 second bits into your normal runs where you just speed up a tiny bit, or try to aim to speed up a bit towards the end of your run.
Don't overdo it though! Speed work ONLY in one run per week at first, your shortest run, and don't increase your overall weekly distance while you're trying to speed up at first.
The other thing that works longer term is training for a longer raceI only got close to 30 mins for 5k was when I was marathon training :rotfl: somehow doing 13, 15, 18 mile long runs makes 5k seem like a piddling distance and make it feel possible to run faster
Is that any use?? DON'T OVERDO IT!!consistency will make you a bit faster eventually even if you dont do any speedwork

That's tons of help, thank you! It did seem very quick this week, rather than the half marathon I did last week! We'll give it a go. Thanks againLBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go

Good luck!
do report back with your progress
I went running again this morning :j I've signed up for My @sics app which reckons it's going to get me round the half in January in 2.24 :rotfl: well seeBut it told me to do 2 miles this morning so I did, and very nice it was too
Not much money news to report. Been on an interesting work trip today. Did end up in a taxi over to friend's house this afternoon as it overran a bit, and I took her a cake too (and me :rotfl: )
Tea was a £1 pizza from sainsbo:rotfl: they're quite tasty and our go to CBA tea at the minute
sorry Greying!
:rotfl:
Just texted a list of jobs to a handyman pal - as were doing so much inside we've agreed to get him in for a couple of days to do dull outside things like clearing gutters, fixing bits of mortar, putting in a gate post etc. Be nice to have things happenig that we're not doing ourselves!:rotfl:
Right, another cup of tea I think! :j0 -

Don't apologise - you know I would be doing the same if mrS was nearer, or if we were up to our oxters in decorating!
