Thanks RT
I did indeed sleep well last night
banging headache today and a bit scatty in work but now it's JULY and tge WEEKEND so all good :j
Did the 2nd watery paint coat on the plaster by the bed tonight so now I have plans (oh so many plans...) for the weekend. Time for a ludicrously overambitious list!
-take foot to walk in centre
- first top coat of paint on plaster
- hammer in nails on cladding by bed
- paint primer onto cladding
- do 1st watery coat on rest of bedroom ceiling
- remove everything (including carpet) from bathroom
- plaster bathroom
- take stuff to tip
- do some lopping in garden ready for a 2nd tip trip
- er, that might have to do - weekend is only 2 days long after all:rotfl:
Of course all my plans may be thwarted at the start by the minor injuries unit! Fingers crossed...0 -
Ok, an update (although not a very exciting one
:rotfl: )
-[STRIKE]take foot to walk in centre[/STRIKE] had an xray - nothing wrong with it that they can see. Just need to take painkillers so I can walk properly rather than limping
- [STRIKE]first top coat of paint on plaster[/STRIKE] Yep :j :j Actually it looks like it won't need another one - yay! :j

- paint primer onto cladding
- do 1st watery coat on rest of bedroom ceiling - started doing this but got a bit bored so stopped for a cuppa...

Ok, so that doesn't seem like much:rotfl: But I'm off back upstairs now to finish the rest of the ceiling, and it all involves SO much faffing, moving ladders and sheets, up and down steps, and of course I can't reach *any* of it, so it's all hanging off things with a paint pad on a long stick so it's not exactly *easy*...
Will just finish off this tin of paint (soon) and then get hammering so I'm not doing it too late. Then back to ceiling painting, then primer painting :j That shouldn't take long once nails hammered in as it's all just one wall and the ladder is already up there.
Would like to get everything out of the bathroom this evening, ready to start plastering tomorrow! :j :j
Slowly (very slowly) starting to feel like we're getting somewhereStill a million things left mind you!

Ok, a final update for the evening :j
[STRIKE]-take foot to walk in centre[/STRIKE] had an xray - nothing wrong with it that they can see. Just need to take painkillers so I can walk properly rather than limping
- [STRIKE]first top coat of paint on plaster[/STRIKE] Yep Actually it looks like it won't need another one - yay!
- hammer in nails on cladding by bed - Mr Cheery has declared he'll do that instead :j but he was busy today so I've just painted over them for now :rotfl:
- [STRIKE]paint primer onto cladding[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]do 1st watery coat on rest of bedroom ceiling[/STRIKE] - done MOST of this, but had to stop before Mr Cheery went out as I was balanced precariously and needed his help getting down  Only a little bit left to do though :j
- remove everything (including carpet) from bathroom
- plaster bathroom
- take stuff to tip
- do some lopping in garden ready for a 2nd tip trip
- er, that might have to do - weekend is only 2 days long after all
So, looks like tomorrow is all about plasteringCeiling and cladding need extra paint coats, but they can be done in evenings after work - plastering is an all day job so I'll get on and crack on with that tomorrow.
Was going to shift all the stuff out of the bathroom tonight but quite frankly have NO idea where I'm going to put it as everywhere else is also full of stuff shifted from elsewhere :rotfl: Will percolate that overnight and decide tomorrowHopefully I can do all plaster coats tomorrow and get the stuff back in by the evening! It's only the top half of the wall I'm doing, Mr Cheery has already put cladding on the bottom :j
Right, off to curl up with my tea and knitting0 -
Oops, forgot to update last night - but I did indeed remove everything from the bathroom, and plastered four walls (out of six) and did the top coat on 3 of them, so they're finished now and just drying ready to be painted :j :j
Just about to hop upstairs to do the final coat on the fourth one :j :j
(no, unfortunately I don't have a hexagonal bathroom :rotfl: It's just got a sticky out bit that means a couple of extra walls)
Wall with the bath on is mainly tiled, with a bit of paper at the end that I'll just paint over. The final wall is the one with the window in and the shower attached - I've ignored it because there's paper behind the shower which needs to come off and be replaced with tiles (paper is peeling off anyway - as you'd expect being in a shower!). Then the wall round the window needs kind of rebuilding (don't ask, it's not a structural thing!) and then the whole lot round the window needs plastering. But I can't do that til I've done the tiles - a job for next weekend I think! Shouldn't take too long once I get going (famous last words...)
Then we pass back to Mr Cheery to put the trim round the cladding and fashion some kind of skirting board/box around the ludicrously complicated display of pipes that litters the bottom of the wall :rotfl:
Tonight though, plaster
And tomorrow night - back to the painting in the bedroom (I could do that tonight but the bathroom is covered in sheets and the plastering stuff is all out so might as well finish that off).
Anyway, in :money: news - I submitted my expenses claim today :j Bizarrely the online system gave me a choice of exchange rates so I chose the best one :rotfl: which meant everything was a few pence more than I'd previously calculated, which kind of made up for the bank charges that were attached to every transaction that I haven't claimed for (kind of)
And it turns out that overall I came in *slightly* under what I'd said I'd spend for the whole trip :j Which is some kind of miracle because flights, accommodation, travel etc were all far more expensive :rotfl: Can only put it down to my MSE ways when it came to eating :rotfl: :money:0 -

You just knew 'someone' was going to ask you that
First thing to pop into my mind when you said six walls!
Ours has three walls and two ceilings! - the joys of old weird buildings!
ETA: YN@B does indeed have the ability to use several budgets as you predicted - and by the looks of it each one can be done in a different currency - and that's as far as I got - going to have to try and transfer money from one currency budget to another & see how that works!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I can sort of envision the sticky out part making six walls.
But three walls and two ceilings rtandon? That I can't seem to fathom.:laugh::doh::doh::doh:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I imagine one's a big slopy ceiling that slopes all down to the floor, not leaving room for a proper wall
BUt of course the room might just be all triangular and pointy and interesting
Do report back re the budget thing RT! :j
I am pleased to report that the plaster is drying in the bathroom, and it looks more and more like a proper bathroom by the day :j :j
Tonight I'm off to slimming world (yes, still:rotfl: ) at 7.30 and I'm going to STAY tonight rather
than just dashing in and jumping on the scales and dashing home again
Aside from that, I need to root around and see if we've still got some tiles and if we have then I might start stripping paper and retiling behind the shower :j Or I might just not0 -
Well, turns out I didn't :rotfl: I did lose 1.5lbs at slimming world though :j Signed up for the next 12 weeks so I'd best be at my target by then else there'll be trouble!
And I've also ordered my nephew's birthday present :j for which I deserve no jumping smiley as his birthday was actually on Sunday
AND I remembered something my mum told me about rewards with the C0-0P bank... apparently with any of their current accounts, you can sign up to get an extra £4 a month guaranteed, plus 5p every time you use your debit card (up to £1.50). Not to be sniffed at - and after a bit of investigation we meet the criteria and you don't have to change anything about your account at all :j
I assume it's some kind of ploy to stop people taking up special offers elsewhere and switching away :rotfl:
Anyway, I have no intention of switching, but if they're going to give me £48-60 a year for nowt, then I'm in
Off to make a phone call... :money:0 -
:j :j :j
7 minutes on the phone and we're inThanks for the tip mum :j :rotfl:
To get the extra £1.50 I need to use my debit card 30 times every month  No idea how many times I use it at the minute but I'm pretty sure it's not that many :rotfl: Might start paying card for everything
Had to laugh - one of the conditions was 'log into online banking at least once a MONTH' :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

......
Hee hee - to start off - our bathroom is technically in the top floor and roof space of the neighbours' place! - so we have a wall with the door from our house into the bathroom and two more walls to block it off from their house - the roof of their house slopes down at an angle and then does a funny bendy thing to make a wall of sorts with a large frosted window in it - that's the first ceiling - and then the actual ceiling has been put in to give the illusion that it's a box room and not a funny afterthought! - The original old farmhouse didn't actually have running water, let alone indoor plumbing! - and our bit (not the bathroom) which is the original hop kiln was not even designed as living space!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Cheery_Daff wrote: »...7 minutes on the phone and we're inThanks for the tip mum :j :rotfl:
...
a little math first thing in the morning...
if you get 1.50 back that's an hourly rate of 12.86 for your 7 minutes trouble...
and if you get back the extra 4 for a total of 5.50 then it's an hourly rate or 47.14!
(and that's just for the first month)
great use of 7 minutes i'd say!:D:D:D4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage!
