I'm here :j cheery room overlooking runway but fortunately quieter than being near a main road :rotfl: quite exciting watching planes from my bed :D and yes I can still see them - it might be gone midnight here but it's still broad daylight out there  (well, ok, you'd probably call it 'dusk' but it certainly doesn't feel like midnight!)

RT, forgot to answer about ynab - as far as I know it only does one currency at the mo, although I *think* you can set up 2 different budgets of you regularly use 2 but I don't so please check it out rather than taking my word for it!!

I'm keeping receipts, and at the end of each day I'll just convert each one, and make a note of the Krone so I can reconvert if necessary when I get back. Means I can't reconcile cash while I'm here but I need to keep all receipts anyway so not a bother.

Right, need to go to sleep! Got to allow time to stuff in a decent bit of buffet breakfast before flight tomorrow! :j :j

Greetings from across and up a bit :hello:

All cheerful here, I'm having a nice lazy breakfast :j Woman I'm visiting is in meetings all day so I'm using the opportubity to skive a bit :D However, I have done a LOT of touristy wandering in the evenings these last few days so don't feel the need to go far (although I might treat myself to a boat trip round the harbour later).

Hotel breakfast is ace - I've had two helpings already this moring and it's open for another 45 mins so might treat myself to a bread and jam course too :D

Norway is expensive  Not that I'm paying for most of this trip :o but still. Have only eaten out once - went for a Chinese :rotfl: which cost me £24 for fried rice, pineapple fritters and a pot of tea  rest of the time I've been eating cheese butties and pots of cous cous, and varios types of yogurt ('piano' yogurt yesterday!)

Doing a good job of keeping track of spending - each night I've sorted through receipts, converted all to £ and put into ynab :j and made a separate list of the ones I'm claiming from work.

Don't think I'll have done too badly with charges etc. Martin said if leaving til last minute, best to either pay by card, or take cash out in big wodges. My card charges 2%, min £2 so I took out £100 at the start of week and still have about £10 left, which will do lunch and airport snacks tomorrow.

Probably won't need much lunch after all this breakfast mind you :rotfl: and my host is taking me out for dinner tonight quite early so it might be a low cost day! :j still need to get airport bus back into town - £15  but door to door and every ten mins, and also runs til hone midnight, most useful.

Going home in the morning and I confess I'm *quite* ready for it  just want a *proper* cup of tea, and complete free choice of what I eat :D :rotfl:

Greying stands on tiptoe and leans to the right a bit..... aaand :hello:

Ay up Cheery - love the multiple course brekkie idea :D You need to keep your strength up in these northern european countries y'know :D

Isn't that the country with the 'brown' cheese? Hasn't TRG brought some home for Pippi on occasion? Or am I getting confused? Hope the rest of the day pans out well and that you have a slap up dinner :D

boo to bad cups of tea :( Still, I hope that the experience overall makes up for the lack :D

:hello::hello::hello::wave::wave::wave: (gets crick in neck straining toward Norway)

Ok, so I need translations for skive (Google said its avoiding work....??)
    And piano yogurt?

That's a whole lot of money for fried rice. I wonder is most people eat at home. Or perhaps they have higher wages?
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Yep, wages (and taxes!) Generally higher here I believe. And I'm in a particularly touristy bit - went to a different restaurant with my host tonight and she paid basically the same but for two of us :rotfl: Think you just have to know where to go :D

    <crouches down to wave> :D

Yes, this is the place of brown cheese, and indeed I have got some to take home :j Tried making it myself once - be interesting to see if it tastes the same! :rotfl:

Flight isn't til 11.30 tomorrow so plenty of time for breakfasting :D Have already checked in, and popped into airport to collect boarding pass this evening, but desk man told me to collect a queuing ticket, info desk lady said yes, I did need to see desk man, and then when I finally got to see desk man, he told me he couldn't give me boardin pass for that airline and I'd have to stand in a different queue tomorrow morning...

So... flight 11.30 and I'm literally 5 mins walk from check in desk :rotfl: need to allow time for security too, and also what was the point of online checkin if I still have to queue up to see a person to collect boardin pass?! Hey ho. Will leave here at 10 just to be on safe side...

Just going to give Mr Cheery a quick call, then pack (MUCH easier packing to go home!) And then early bed I think - going to try drawin curtains tonight as I only got about 5 hours sleep last night and am now exhausted!

Already thinking aboit breakfast :rotfl: :rotfl:

    :hello:

Home now, and didn't sleep well last night either so that's a week of slightly disturbed and unsatisfactory sleep for one reason and another  Normally I'm so good at sleeping so this is throwing me a bit :D :rotfl:

Still, not much to do today :j Well, not much that has to be done *today* anyway. Just had breakfast, need a shower, and sister is arriving at teatime for race tomorrow  Need to pop over and pick up numbers so we don't have to queue in the morning - can do that in the car.

I'd also quite like to get some stuff done in the garden (and a trip to the tip), and also need to unpack and do some washing, and there are a million house-related things I could be doing of course

Another cup of tea first though I think...

    Oh, plonker!

I came in to say I'd been fiddling around with YNAB :j SO glad I kept track of things while I was away and worked out currency and entered stuff every night :j Had the equivalent of £3 left in Norwegian money so that wasn't too bad :j Probably racked up £10 or so of bank charges for using card/taking out cash - also not too bad.

YNAB virtual envelopes looking pretty empty, and I'm resorting to stealing from the No Quibble fund for the rest of the month  but that's only cos I had various treats etc in Norway which I hadn't budgeted for :o Hey ho.

Not got anything much spendy coming up this week. DOn't really need to spend anything today, tomorrow is race so might have an ice cream after :D Then I'm back at work for the rest of the week anyway!

    Right - tea.
