Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

Morning chums :hello:
Payday today:j :j :j Love a bit of budget shuffling :money:
So... big savings pots first: (why oh WHY can't I do coloured font any more?! *sob*)
* Rounded up Patchwork ISA to £7500 (it had £7400.55 in it and I can't be doing with such an odd number! :rotfl: )
* £600 added to 'emergency fund', which I'm hoping we'll be able to pay all the house moving expenses from so we don't have to raid to (30 days to access) ISA). Currently at £3600 :j and I've claimed nearly £100 of expenses which I'll throw in there when they turn up :j
Smaller savings pots:
* Holiday fund has £474 in - Mr Cheery is favouring using this for house/decorating but I'm keeping it in separate pot for now in case I go even more bonkers and want to get away for a bit
* £75 No Quibble
* £88.32 for Christmas :rotfl:
* £176 home maintenance
* £155 car maintenance (MOT not due til September, need a new rubber thing for exhaust but they cost about £2 :rotfl: )
All normal pots for annual bills added to and looking healthy :j
Not bad at all :j I have to say I'm enjoying a full time wage:rotfl: :rotfl: Seeing savings pots increase is MUCH more fun than seeing debt decrease
:rotfl: :rotfl: And it's giving me a good idea of how I'll need to budget to put a hefty chunk to a mortgage too.
Right - today is last day of work for a fortnight:j :j :j Off for a meeting in next town at lunchtime (but I'll go early and do a charity shop trawl
) and then I'm DONE! :j :j :j
Have a good one folks0 -
Evening all :hello:
Tiredy tired here. Cheery night out watching Mr Cheery's band play in a jolly little cafe, and today I've been out walking in the peak district with a couple of friends from old job, and spent several hours cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, and moving stuff round (and throwing stuff away :eek: ) in the living room. Still, those three rooms are actually inhabitable now (just) :rotfl: :rotfl: Relatively hygienic anyway
Had my first solo Uber experience last nightBetter than last week's with colleague anyway - arrived within 5 minutes (and it was quite exciting watching the car getting closer on the gps map thingy - although rather alarming when it appeared to be spinning round in circles at one point :eek: :rotfl: ) Cheaper than a normal taxi, and it comes straight out of the bank so no need to fret about cash :j Will be using that again I think :j
Not much to report money-wise today. Had quite a lot of tea and cake in the last few days:rotfl:
Tomorrow.... up for a longish run (an hour or so I think), then off to the gym for a session with the personal trainer bloke. Probably not ideal after a run, but I certainly won't be running *after* the personal trainer! :eek: :rotfl:
Then we might head out on a bike ride (depending on weather, just a gentle one with a cafe stop!) or might stay in and paint something (a wall, not a pretty picture sadly), or work on finding the bedroom floor again:rotfl:

Ah, but I didn't actually come in to say that... :rotfl: I came in to find the details of the firm that someone (Starnac??) recommended for replacing blown double glazing :rotfl:
Needless to say, I still haven't done that :rotfl:0 -
Aha I do apologise, it was fannyadams who recommended cloudy2clear - thanks FA! Will investigate :j
Ooh, and reading back I remembered about my gym membership calculationsSo far I'm down to £20 per visit now :j and I'm going again tomorrow, so that'll take me down to £17.78 a visit
Love it :rotfl:

Any double glazing firm can replace the sealed unit for you - make sure you get a few quotes"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Thanks Pooky
Have emailed the one FA recommended and a local one that's got good reviews on checkatrade too :j That's plenty for me - sometimes I'd rather pay a tiny bit more for the ease of not having to mess about ringing round a load of people
Dreadful I know!
Sunny today :j Pity I've not managed to do anything other than get out of bed, eat breakfast, and sort out YNAB :rotfl: Gym in an hour for a PT session :eek: so won't fit a run in before that now. Me and Mr Cheery are contemplating heading out for the afternoon for a mini adventure
This month's got a bit spendy it seems :eek: Just bits here and there, I've had lunch out with a few folks, and a couple of times haven't taken my own lunch so ended up buying it out. Don't mind socialising of coursebut shop bought sandwiches just for me is really rather a waste! Off for a fortnight now so undoubtedly more socialising will ensue
Also bought new pair of trainers (to replace the ones I've had for 13 years :eek: ) for £20, and some reduced charity shop clothes and a bit of new underwearNot too bad in all, it just looked quite bad as I was adding it all to YNAB in a big list! :eek:

Well the first bloke just came round to measure the windows :j Will text a quote through tomorrow, and if I say yes, they can do it within a week :j Not heard from the other bloke yet.
Must ring the plasterer today too.
Spent a couple of hours this morning tidying and cleaning bedroom - dusting off plaster dust, hanging clothes up, shifting boxes, hoovering weeks of DIY-related crap off the floor :eek:Looks rather better now though
And we've moved enough stuff out of the spare room that Mr Cheery can set up the workbench in there to get sawing the landing floorboards :j
Not sure what I'll be doing with the rest of the day. Need to run at least 4 miles at some point, and slimming world at 5.30, and round to a friend's for tea at 7.30. Thinking about it, that doesn't actually leave me much time to do anything else! :rotfl: :rotfl:
But I will:
- run 4-5 miles
- ring plasterer
- start stripping paper off attic stairs
Ooh, tell you what's excitingJust nipped in Jack Fultons for some milk and they had reduce Danish blue cheese - knocked down to 20p a pack :j :j There were LOADS so I got 5 for £1 and I've shoved them in the freezer
We rarely eat it raw, but often use it to flavour cooking, so this lot will probably do us til about 2018 :rotfl: :money: :rotfl:

Ooooo - a cheese bargain - so envious!!!:D;)
We often use our strong cheese bargains to make sauce out of - think a jacket potato with steam broccoli smothered in stilton sauce - yum!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Ooh, that does indeed sound tasty RT :j :j We're more likely to just put a teensy bit in a soup, or a risotto or something for a little bit of flavour - hence why it might last quite a long time :rotfl:
5 miles run :j and I bought some washers to fix the bath taps :j
Rang plasterer but no answer - will try again in a minute. Other window bloke coming on Wednesday to measure :j0 -
Sawing floorboards :eek: I'm very impressed :money:
Also impressed at the stilton - I lurve stilton, lurve all cheese, but my new rule is only one portion a day, even feta, and not after 2pm - my stomach, and my lymph system (food intolerant reaction!) disapprove otherwise.
As always, am impressed by your activity - did you stop during the run to buy the washers?I hope so, I like that image
