if you have a company called cloudy2clear in your area (I'm lead to believe they are a national co with local franchises) they will replace the blown windows only, not the whole thing.
We had them in to do our front window, the child's room opening window and two in our porch, I think all in it was £500. this was 2 years ago.

 stressedmum  I only like playing because I'm luck enough to *know* there will be enough to balance the budget - the playing is just where to put the rest. Didn't enjoy playing half as much when I wasn't convinced it would cover everything  :o But then having said that, playing with budgets is always fun :D So I've just contradicted myself there but hey ho :D

Ooh, thanks fanny adams :j Good suggestion :D Will add it to my list of things to investigate :j

So tonight's task is to get a coat of white paint on the last of the landing and stairs. First job was to remove all the mirror tiles from the bottom of the stairs... and however careful I was, it's still removed quite a bit of paper - enough to mean I'm now taking the rest off (just the bit at the bottom of the stairs...). Hoping to goodness that I don't pull too much of the plaster off too else I'll be here all week fixing it

This is what happens with EVERYTHING in this blithering house :rotfl: Already I can see I'm going to have to bung a load of filler in the corner, and then paper the whole lot, and only THEN get back to painting, which is clearly not going to be tonight, gah!

    :rotfl: :rotfl:

You poor lot, you're going to get dead bored of this over the next few weeks :rotfl:

Oh dear - hope your plaster behaved itself!

Fanny Adams - thanks for that recommendation - I've also bookmarked that one for future use!

Bizarrely enough it did :j :j Just had to stick some filler down the corner (which still seems to be attached this morning - hooray!). Wallpaper this afternoon, and the rest of the high up bits of painting, then it can all have another coat of white tomorrow once the paper is properly dried (the paper won't need several coats as it wasn't dark blue to start with!) :rotfl:

Cheery morning at flute choir, and just scoffing lunch before getting into painting clothes. Need to investigate storage too and see if we can get some stuff OUT of the house

All done :j :j Bizarrely enjoyed the wallpapering - my mum really likes papering, and I always wondered why - this was three strips round a corner in a poky bit at the bottom of the stairs, using a roll of bubble wrap on the kitchen floor to paste on. I can see if you had straight walls, an entire room, a big brush and a proper table, it'd be great :D

Not going to win any prizes, but it's better than it was before :rotfl:

Also finished painting the last bits of the first coat of white :j

Off to email storage stuff - I think the plan is for Mr Cheery to shift stuff when I'm in Belgium next weekend :D Timed that one nicely didn't I? ;):D

Second coat of white on the whole stairs and landing :j :j :j (Except behind the book case - ignoring that for now :D :rotfl: )

Starting to look 'proper' now :j Bit I papered looks great :D :rotfl:

Just treating myself to a hot chocolate :D and then I'm off to look at the attic stairs - sadly that involves a few repairs to the plasterboard before I can start painting - and possibly even a new bit of wallpaper and some filler  Can make some good progress today though, and I reckon after pottering all the evenings this coming week, the whole two sets of stairs and landings might actually be done :j :j

    Thanks lovely people :kisses3:

Done a bit of plasterboard repair on the attic stairs :j Remains to be seen whether the no more nails stuff will hold up - at the minute it's held in place with an elaborate system of pins and wool :D We'll see..

Currently trying to figure out how to disguise the polystyrene ceiling tiles in the spare bedroom  Apparently they've been banned for some considerable years - but these were clearly installed before Mr Cheery moved in and presumably when they were still legal :rotfl: They're a bit tatty - but that room still has the original lath and plaster walls (under another layer of plaster) and I fear taking the tiles off will bring the whole ceiling down - which clearly we're keen to avoid...

Gosh, it's such a balance between 'light tarting up', trying vaguely to do things vaguely properly, and not taking the whole house down and start again  :rotfl:
