Well, I faffed about a bit putting the compost and recycling out, but made it to work by 9.03, which I count as a success :D Of course nobody noticed :rotfl:

Had a BRILLIANT first week :j :j :j LOVE the lovely new job :j :j Everyone is great and I'm not half as daunted about the actual work now I'm there. They're breaking me in very gently and giving me lots of support, which is lovely :j

I get 43 days a year off   :rotfl: Obviously some of those are bank holidays, but I need to start thinking about how to fit in the rest :rotfl: Think I'm going to plan for at least one day a month (probably tacked onto a weekend). And save plenty for moving house, probably over the summer :j

Speaking of which - moved house valuation for Tuesday lunchtime, and booked appointment to do mortgage re-calculation over the phone with the bank just after :j So by the end of Tuesday we'll have a much better idea of the position we're in :j

In other spending news... I've not spent much this week :rotfl: Thought I'd be spending loads with a cafe in the same building as the office :o but actually, because I'm so close, I'm only out of the house for about 8.5 hours, and it's easy to take enough food to last the day. Only time I've spent money this week is meeting people for lunch :j

Apparently I can top up my swipe card and use it to pay in cafes etc (which gives me a discount). Might put £10 on it, and use that if I meet someone work-related for a cuppa. Saves me carrying money round the office. Grand :money:

Anyway, waffling on :rotfl: Just watching :money: show on ITV, not seen it before, seeing if there's anything I can learn but I think it's all stuff I already know :rotfl:

Right, enough lounging around, want to get on with a few things for a little bit before curling up for the evening :j

    * 5 mins room rescue (might get stuff off landing)
    * 15 mins kitchen decluttering
    * decide re parkrun tomorrow and get clothes ready if going
    * get washing ready to put on tomorrow

    That might be it :rotfl:
  • Slow down Cheery, you are making me tired!!
Sounds like you are having a great time in your new job, and lots of long weekends to use your holiday, sounds like a perfect place to be

Don't worry stressed mum, I ended up not actually doing any of that anyway :rotfl:

Had a nice day yesterday, brunch with a pal, wander round a little peak district town with Mr Cheery, then just the two of us sat and got slightly tipsy on the sofa :rotfl: :rotfl:

Feeling the need to get on with something today though! :j Although I might need a *small* nap later :o :rotfl:

First of all, a list :j

    - morning routine
    - YNAB/banks
    - write card for woman round the corner
    - recycling and compost out
    - lop willow in garden
    - tidy garden
    - pop to garden centre - could do with a bit of brightening up and I want a houseplant for my desk at work :j
    - put washing away
    - hoover upstairs
    - hoover downstairs
    - get workshop into decent state (mostly Mr Cheery's job)
    - take christmas cards down :o :rotfl:
    - put Christmas tree in cellar

House valuation on Tuesday lunchtime and I'm at work tomorrow so the place needs to be mostly spick and span (within reason, I'm not actually going to be cleaning carpets and shifting boxes :rotfl: ) today really

If I get half of that done it'll be some kind of miracle :rotfl:

Yes it was indeed lovely :j :j

I confess I'm a little bit scared of only having 2 day weekends :o:o And yes, I do realise that's how most people work and I've been incredibly lucky to only work 4 days a week for the last 3 years! But the truth is I've gotten VERY used to having Fridays off - I tended to potter around doing errands on a Friday, and having a cuppa with certain friends - charity shops, post office, library, wandering to town etc. That left the weekend free for days out and lazing around (or DIY!) Felt like a nice balance.

I left this first weekend free as I wasn't sure how I'd feel after a week of work (ok, four days this week, but even so :rotfl: ) Had a strong urge to be *out* yesterday though - it's SO easy to spend the entire morning at least sat in front of the internet, chattering and pottering round round blogs etc until Mr Cheery surfaces around lunchtime, but then before we know it, it's dark

How do other people make sure they make use of the weekend?? I mean, usually I have certain things planned, but I just So much don't want to lose them to unthinking things. But sometimes maybe just a bit of idleness is what you need at the weekend?!

Saying that - today is all going to be about tidying up, and I imagine once the estate agent has been, we'll be on a mission to sort the house out ready for selling so it might be a bit of a moot point :rotfl:

Still, I'd be interested to hear how you all manage - evenings too! My tea is usually ready when I get in :D:D but then it's easy to switch the internet on... :o:o

Hmm - SLIGHT change of plan... :o :rotfl:

Rang a friend and they're off out to the local reservoir so we're joining them for a cuppa :j THEN I'll do all the things on the list - promise! :rotfl:

Happy New Year Cheery & gang!

Surfacing after a few weeks of internet/pc detox! ;)

This is such an interesting question...

We find that as we spend 12 hours a day out of the house during the week, a good mix of chores & fun things are needed to fill the weekend including a bit of idleness!

We usually start the laundry & house cleaning first thing Saturday morning and then head out for our one formally planned thing for the weekend - dr's appts, lunch/visits with friends, day trips to interesting places, family duty - this changes depending on the weekend. We then head home for a Saturday evening of idleness & no pressure lolling about. Sunday morning we tend to lie in & then get up to another blitz of chores - then idle about until late afternoon when we get a grocery delivery & get prepared for the week ahead. I'd say it's a bit of structured relaxation combined with the necessities of life!

Really interested in how our other loverly ladies spend their weekends & if we are even remotely 'normal'!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well I can now tell you how I HAVE spent my weekend... :rotfl:

    SATURDAY
Bit of light tidying and internet pottering, then met a pal for brunch in a favourite cafe. Drove off to Bakewell and spent the afternoon wandering round the charity shops, then back home to a tasty and an evening of drinking on the sofa and putting the world to rights :rotfl:

    SUNDAY
Manic kitchen cleaning for a couple of hours, then rang a friend to see if they were in for a cuppa. They were just heading out to local reservoir, so joined them there for 4 drives around the car park looking for a space :rotfl: then tea etc sat outside the cafe in the freezing cold. Quick trip to the garden centre, changed the bed sheets, then spent an hour outside manically digging up weeds and trying to make the place vaguely presentable.

Then it went dark, so I'm now back inside, having sewn up the tiny tear in the inside of my new work bag that I got for £3.80 in a charity shop yesterday :j Thrilled with it - dark green leather satchel/handbag type thing, absolutely perfect :D

Mr Cheery is making tea, and then I'll spend another couple of hours hoovering and putting things in cupboards.

This much housework isn't normal for me - hence why I'm doing it all now :D :rotfl:

I don't go *out* to work at all, of course, I don't work every day, and even when I do work, the hours aren't exactly on a par with what most people do :o as far as *time* is concerned, I live the life of Riley! But of course I've got this stress/burnout thing going on, so I do horrendously little.

This weekend - client left at 5, took me half an hour to stack and clean, plus getting rubbish together, bin collection on Saturday as a hangover from the holiday period.

Because I'm at home all the time, I try to make sure that I do different things on the weekend - so no tax work, nothing like that, and sadly no gardening either, as I like to try to have a "proper" walk, and I don't have the energy to do both.

Lovely long phone call yesterday with my sister was my equivalent of coffce and cake in a cafe, and another phone chat today, with my sister, plus an online chat with my author friend, we're plotting world domination.

Yesterday was 3 hours on a writing webinar, and today was the local walk where I got soaked, plus mahoosive amounts of tidying. Finishing off today with Sherlock :)
