Thanks again. Could they not find my phone number from my address though?
Strangely they also have my maiden name on the credit file, when Creation already had my married name.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Maybe. Depends if your are ex directory, if they can get it from your credit report.
Not sure on this one...:beer:0 -
When I switched providers I did say I wanted to be X-directory, and I've just searched on www.thephonebook.bt.com, and I am not on the results list.
So, a letter something like -Dear Sir/Madam,
Ref: Account number *********. (numbers as on my credit file)
I have recently viewed my credit file, and noticed an entry with the above account number, which you have marked with a 'Default' status.
I would point out that I have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to 'Cabot Financial (UK) LTD'.
I would like this entry on my credit file removing, and enclose the said credit report entry for your information.
Yours faithfullyI Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

Sounds good.
I would get proof of posting if you can.:beer:0 -
Ok thanks, do you mean just proof, or send signed for?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

Up to you, but I think just proof it was sent would do for this.
Just in case they ignore you, as I would start the 8 week FOS referral from 2 days after you post it.:beer:0 -
If I send the letter, won't they be hounding me for the money though, and I'll be in the same position I was before - asking them for a CCA all the time?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

Yes that may happen.
I don't see any option, other than ignoring it until its SB and risking getting a CCJ at your old address you won't know about until it's too late. That will trash your credit report for another 6 years.
Also, you can't be sure it's the same account with the strange balance.
You need to figure out which of the above you would rather do, neither one is a great option.:beer:0 -
Thanks again happy_bunny, I will post the letter.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

I just called my council, and it seems I'm not on the electrol roll, but they could see I'd put the form in, and was informed I'd be on the roll when it is published on 17th Feb.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0
