How much did your wedding dress cost?

  • I haven't yet tried on any dresses, so I don't know what style would fit my shape, but I know what style I'd like, as long as it fits ok and compliments me. It's Maggie Sottero - Taleigha. I would like a ivory/champagne ball gown dress, either strapless, or with a bolera/3/4 length sleeves. I don't want a train, but could tolerate a sweep train. I am not desperate to spend alot of money, but would like my dress to look special, so if I can find what I'm looking for without the huge price tag I'll be happy!

  • I haven't bought my dress yet but the budget is roughly £800. My dad's cousin is making it for me and when she made my sisters' wedding dresses they came in at about that. In theory I could stretch to £1000 but the thought of that much money on a dress for one day that will probably have red wine and chocolate and whatever else on it by the end of the night scares me slightly!

This thread has reminded me that I need to start booking appointments to try stuff on - once I've spoken to my mum tonight or tomorrow I'll make a couple of phone calls. I have seen one dress I really love but want to try on a few different styles to make sure it's what I want.

Mine was just over £600 (can't remember exactly), and was reduced from £3000+ in a sample sale. It is a bespoke Hollywood Dreams design originally made for someone else who changed her mind. It was the first dress I tried on, so bought it straightaway (well, my mum did!) and took it home there and then - we were only in the shop for about half an hour!
My budget was actually £500 but I just had to have this dress, so I just tweaked the budget for other things slightly to accommodate it!

I picked Maggie Sottero Suzanne, think it was about £1200 or £1400. Went to the shop to try it on, the girl didn't have it in stock.

Describe the dress to me she said, and I did. Turns out they had an Alfred Angelo dress that was almost identical for £900, reduced to £299 in the sale :T

    So £299 :)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
  • Hi,
