I've ordered a Dominos pizza to my hotel before! You are the boss!

Me too :D Was on a comp win, so bargains all round lol! Did check with them first, and they weren't snooty at all. Very accommodating. The second night, we bought stuff to have a little 'bedroom picnic' with from a local supermarket.

I've taken alcohol into a room, taken snacks, had mcdonalds and have even ordered a Papa Johns before. I have (while travelling) even done my own washing in my hotel room and allowed it to dry above the bath. No hotel has ever complained to me.

You'll be fine. If they have an issue go elsewhere.

Depending on the type of hotel....ive even been offered not only cutlery and plates to eat our "bought in " food but also the use of a table in the resturant to eat it....

It was in a hotel where they dont offer food at any other time than breakfast but were more than happy to allow customers use of the facilities as they said it saved adding to the worload of the room cleaning staff.

If you think about it ...it probably makes perfect sense to encourage everyone to eat in one place.

  • Depends what you and your OH are into but perhaps some nice nibbles in little tubs. Nothing too OTT perhaps some nice buts (get your minds out of the gutter some of you!) or some olives etc. Basically just a few nice bits to have with the prosecco and strawberries. Also some nice unisex but sexy smelling bodywash/shower gel? You might get the change to share a bath or a shower ;)
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

I used to work in a Premier inn and the housekeeping girls has 3 different colour cloths for cleaning different parts- one for dusting, one for bath and sinks and one for toilets, not to mention the floor cleaning cloth. I would hate to find out that any of the decent hotel chains use only one cleaning cloth for everything!! How disgusting!

In response to the op question, you take whatever you like in your room, you can even order takeaway. Hope you have a lovely time!

So glad you said that as I stay in premier in a lot and was worried about the one cloth rule.
  • Last time I stayed in a hotel I took wine, but forgot the corkscrew. The reception staff took it to their bar and opened it for me :-) (excuse the italics, my laptop is having a funny 5 minutes!!), I have never had a problem with taking food or drink, they wont question it :-)
  • Me and h2b went to New York in 2010, the hotel didn't have evening meal facilities so we went to pizza hut that was just down the road, we took it back to our room no problem, we took all different food back, reception staff even said enjoy your meal on the way through!

I always take a little picnic with me to hotels, sausage rolls, scotch eggs etc etc :)

    Enjoy your night away.

    Steph xx
  • I take my own food and alcohol, most hotels don't care. I have stayed in a mandarin oriental that had a notice saying you couldn't take your own alcohol though. I also felt quite skanky taking a mcdonalds back into a 5 star hotel in Europe too but I was drunk and not willing to pay €50 room service.

Will it be ok for me to take our own bottle into the room?

Of course you can. The receptionist wont do a bag search. I pack all sorts of things to make my stay in places more pleasant. I've even been known to take my own pillows with me as they are really comfy and I am major fussy. Hope you have a wonderful time.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • we take our own snacks and booze with us in a coolbox..and ask the hotel for an ice bucket and ice cubes for our vodka and tonic..they are usualy ok about it..
I might be crazy but I'm not stupid....
