First Hotel Stay

Ive never hidden anything food or drink wise when going into a hotel. Even if you are full board why shouldnt someone take snacks in to eat in the room? Ive also just put empty packets or bottles in the bin in the room, never ever had an issue. Youve paid for the room, no reason why you cant eat or have a bottle of wine while you are there.
I also just carry a bag full of grub in and no one has ever commented. In fact, whenever I've asked reception where I can get a snack they are always happy to direct me to the nearest supermarket.0 -
Omg I've stayed in hotels countless times and that cloth thing is disgusting! I saw that tv programme too bit didn't realise it was so common! I'm already OCD in hotels now Ill be even worse!
You can take what you want in food wise you don't need to sneak it in, it's not the cinema!
I never used to be so OCD about hotels, but before we went to Vegas, I was reading the forums on trip advisor and there was so many topics on bedbugs, so much so that checking out our bed was one of the first things we did when we got into our room! We'd never thought about doing it before, but the forums had got us paranoid! :rotfl:0 -
I've never worried about taking food or drink in
In fact the last time I stayed in the hotel my bf works in he brought us Burger King (ever the romantic
) saying nothing about the "extra" room service I received

Makes you wonder if staying in a hotel is much of a treat doesn't it ?! One cloth for everything , disgusting ! Surely every hotel isn't like that though . Sure your hotel will be lovely and loads of people take their own wine etc in . Have fun .0

That cloth thing is disgusting. Given the amount of hotels I've stayed in, surprised I've not been ill from it.
Regarding the food thing - never had a problem. In fact, in the last hotel I stayed in, I'm sure they had a list of local places to eat.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

The 'one cloth' hotel I worked in was a private hotel and they basically were very stingy about washing. I imagine the big chains probably use laundry services and are better organised. I certainly didn't have the snazzy chambermaid's carts that I see in places like Travel Inn.0

Hi
One nice b&b we stayed in had nice wine glasses in the room without asking. We recently stayed in a premier inn in London & we bought some nice beer to drink in our room & they lent us beer glasses !

I stay in hotels most weeks and notice that the water glasses are sealed in plastic bags. Last week one of the hotels had a plastic throw away one and one had glass. The hotel story I like is when staff use your toothbrush to clean the toilet. I actually lock mine in my suitcase.0

Me too! This did happen in the hotel I worked in, but only when the guests were utterly VILE to the chambermaids.0 -

Don't forget who is in charge. You are. You're the customer.
I know taking your own food and drink into hotels is common practice and I've done it myself.
But I have frequently seen notices asking customers not to take in their own just as you see in cafes.
Personally I would want a cool box for Prosecco or take red wine instead.0
