  • You'll have no problems with taking your own bottle with you. Remember to take some glasses too, or buy some plastic shaped wine glasses if you're worried about breakages.
We always bring a bottle of water with us as well, as I object to paying mini-bar prices ( as well as it being tiny)
If there is a mini bar, you may be able to remove everything, as put your own items in to keep cool. Just be careful it is not a weighted bar, as even if you pick up an item to look at, you'll be charged.

If you're a light sleeper you may want to take an eye mask!, as I find hotels are quite bright due to the security lighting in the corridors which are on all night. I am used to living in the back of beyond however where I'm used to pitch black all night

Have a lovely time and enjoy yourselves
  • @ posts 7 and 8! I guess it's true then, that's awful, not to mention very unhygienic! I will definitely try to remember to take wipes in future.
  • Prosecco £5.99 at Aldi's (times at least four) - check.

    Good undies - check.

    That's it really :D - have a great time!

There is an hotel I stay in regularly that has a bottle of water in the room.

Not complimentary but £3.95 for a litre bottle of still water.

At least the perfectly drinkable tap water is not an extra charge.

Ouch! When I stay in hotels, I almost always go to the local shop and buy a 1.5 litre bottle of water of some sort. I've sometimes stayed in hotels where the tap water is disgusting.

Yeugh!!! Memo to self - make sure that I take anti-bac wipes next time I travel!

Goes to show though, maybe we worry and clean too much, if this practice is standard and yet people aren't constantly catching virulent diseases from hotel sinks!

This is exactly what I was going to say! I have stayed in many hotels and my husband has had hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of hotel stays, but we have never been ill after one. I feel as though I should be thinking 'eww' but I'm really thinking 'oh well, obviously is ok'!

When I stay away with the 'kids' we take in whatever we want in bags - positive picnics! Cheaper to make sandwiches and things than eat out...

I don't advertise I've got it though. Hide it in a bag.

No need to do this. I've carried carrier bags from the local supermarket into hotels many times, the hotels never comment on it.

Don't forget who is in charge. You are. You're the customer.

Ive never hidden anything food or drink wise when going into a hotel. Even if you are full board why shouldnt someone take snacks in to eat in the room? Ive also just put empty packets or bottles in the bin in the room, never ever had an issue. Youve paid for the room, no reason why you cant eat or have a bottle of wine while you are there.

Omg I've stayed in hotels countless times and that cloth thing is disgusting! I saw that tv programme too bit didn't realise it was so common! I'm already OCD in hotels now Ill be even worse!

You can take what you want in food wise you don't need to sneak it in, it's not the cinema!
