First Hotel Stay

Hi all

This is probably the wrong board so I apologise and mods please move if you need to.

Me and the OH are having our first proper weekend away together in a hotel this weekend and I'd like to make it quite special as we don't get to spend a lot of time together in fact this will be our first weekend together since the start of November.

I have already arranged for chocolate strawberries to be in the room when we arrive.

I asked about prosseco but it was really expensive. Will it be ok for me to take our own bottle into the room?

Also has anyone else got any ideas of what to take? Clean ideas please lol

We always take our own drink with us. Including some milk and biscuits as they never provide enough. No need to mention you've got it...

We do take the empty bottle out and dispose of it away from the hotel though.

Have a good weekend away! ;)

Yeah just take your own. Might want to take your own glasses too
  • It's fine to take your own food and drink. :) If I remember, I like to take my own coffee with me, as the usual satchets you get are as weak as dishwater!

I noticed that Prosseco was on offer the other day in Morrisons too!

ETA: I always say I'm going to take a packet of anti bac wipes with me (but usually forget!), after watching a programme once where the cleaner went straight from wiping the toilet to wiping the sink etc.

We always take our own wine to hotel rooms and often ask for a corkscrew and glasses/ice and glasses if it is sparkling! We put the bottles in the hotel bedroom too. Nowhere has ever said a word.

    Have a lovely time!

I once worked in a hotel and we were only allowed one cloth per shift so it was used to clean everything in 30 rooms!

As a teenager I had a Saturday job in a Hotel and had one cloth that was used to clean everything, from counter tops to showers to toilets, even those little mouth washing glasses
I would clean about 5 rooms with this cloth and then it would be chucked on to the cloth pile in the cleaning closet, and I don't think this pile of cloths ever got washed, just left to dry out and be used again! Just thinking about it makes me shudder.

There is an hotel I stay in regularly that has a bottle of water in the room.

Not complimentary but £3.95 for a litre bottle of still water.

At least the perfectly drinkable tap water is not an extra charge.

I've taken food and drink into hotels before and no one has said a word. I'm sure they appreciate not everyone can afford hotel prices.
