Sarah - what stuff is it? Next boys stuff goes really well on Ebay (I've found) as do a few other things - toys especially. Newborn stuff is v hard to shift but good at car boots I've been told.

    Sea xx

I've got three or four Next outfits, and some sleep suits, and I did list them on eBay, but nothing went. They're all 0-3 so thats' probs why. All the rest of the clothes are things I've bought from Sains or Tesco, or things that have been given as gifts that no longer fit. There's no toys yet as DS doesn't have many for his age, he's only just discovering that he can ram things in his mouth so they're all chewable atm. I'm gonna root thru the house and see what else we can get rid of, and establish where the good car boots are round here.
I know OH has got a few clothes that he doesn't wear/doesn't fit anymore, and some are designer shirts, so I'll have to see what I can eBay from there, plus I think we're gonna venture into the loft later:eek: We don't have LOADS of stuff we can sell, we've only been living together a year and haven't managed to collect that much, but we'll see.... I'm up for a challenge (or 3!)

  • Hi Lucy - please can I join?

I would love to get rid of my overdraft (as per sig) by xmas. I already put £150 away this month which I am really proud of. What I am doing is saving money into another account with a different bank so I cannot access it and once I have £850 saved up, I will transfer the lot and get the bank to cancel the overdraft (as if i was to pay off a bit at a time, something would always come up and I would never pay it off).

    I also counted my 20ps which I have in a jar and I have £10 - wahoo!

I have put on a few things on ebay already - wish me luck! x

    Good Luck!

I think that's a very good way of doing it. I transfered my OD into an Alliance and Leicester 0% interest OD, that way I have 12 months to pay it off, but really want it and the store card gone by christmas if I can.

    Hope it goes ok.

Right I'm off, I'm not really around at the weekends so will check in with everyone bright and early on Monday morning. Have good weekends everyone and remember every penny counts!

    Good Luck GreenNinja!!!

I hope you'll give us some debt free advice now you've only got your mortgage left.

    Bet it's a great feeling

To be fair my debts weren't huge so wouldn't feel right in taking credit for clearing them. In actual fact all the ideas etc about clearing the debt and ways of doing it came primarily from this site, so I am thanking you "all" for the good advice.

I would like to join in this challenge as well if I may

I would like to pay off the first national debt before xmas as I only pay £10 a month on this on my DMP so it would take 44 months to pay otherwise. So I will round it up to £500 to make before xmas.

I am going to start looking to see what I can sell on ebay

Oooh you work the same way I do! I've got £1,500 on the credit card and keep stashing money in one of my savings account to clear it. As I have just been paid I have put £100 in and it stands at £850, but I think it will end up back down at £750 by the end of this month.

I've just had a speeding ticket through the post (bad helen) and I'm on holiday in July for a week with friends. I think I will have to learn my way around matched betting, as it is going to be the only way of clearing this debt by christmas. I don't get overtime at my current job, and I have tried to get an evening job but it isn't going too well.

I've done a mystery shop with grass roots, does anyone know how long they take to pay?

    Thanks,
    Hel x

I have tried, but I still don't understand matched betting, and I am scared of getting it wrong! Wow, you have saved a lot so far, well done, keep going and you will be clear for xmas x

Well I have read through the matched betting stuff now and I think I get it. Seems that it all lies in:
    - bogof bet offers on websites
    - making a bet on one site and acting as bookie for the same bet on another site with the same odds a couple of times
    - withdrawing your original cash and the cash from the free bet

A bit more complex than that, but as far as I can tell, thats the basic idea. You make the money by withdrawing the freebie money rather than by actually winning the bet.

I guess now I just have to have the guts to try it. Be a bit weird as I have never bet on anything in my life!

Anyone mind if I join in. Before my ex said that he didn't love me anymore and therefore we're having to do up the house so that we can sell it and go our separate ways I was on target to be debt-free by Christmas. Now I'm not so sure as money needs to be put into doing up the house. However I really would like to be debt free by Christmas, maybe this will give me that extra incentive not to spend money that I don't need to spend.

Car Loan £298.61 - Last payment tomorrow :)
    Parents £5388
    Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR
