    Hi

    Welcome aboard.

Surveys are ok, but can take time to get anywhere. Have a look through pigsback.com and qudico.com you can earn points/cashback for signing up to survey sites. I do some but they only come through every so often.

The best way is to try and save some money. I don't know if you've read the first time posters thread, but this will hopefully give you some ideas.

    Good luck!!

I'm doing ok, I've had a couple more sales on Amazon, but I am trying not to stress over it as everything will get paid one way or another!! But I am off to update my sig as I miscalculated by reduction by about 36p!

As for being confused Sarah, I am all the time. I only have a rough idea if my paid off totals are right. I decided that I will work to the total and see where I am when I get there. My birthday is in June, so I can always start another 6 month challenge!! (I think I may need it!)

    Hello

    Been away for a bit

Fell just short of fininshing off my GE loan this last month but it will go at the end of September thanks to some stuff I sold on ebay. I now hae £30 in my Paypal account with another item I'm hoping that will go for around £30 but not counting my chickens.

Business bank loan coming down a bit but I'll get ther

I am due a "pay -rise" which usually means that part of my rise is funded form a drop in payment in some part of the remuneration that makes up my salary.

I paid another £100 off today and have promised myself to get stuck into quidco - IA's £200 thread has inspired me. Still to take deposit money back after SS made me some money but will put it all in against the debt otherwise there's no way I'm going to make it by christmas! only four more pay days - yikes!

I know suddenly Christmas seems I lot closer this side of that Bank Holiday. I'm not sure I'll make my challenge, but I now only have one more payment until I get rid of my storecard!!! Which in itself is very exciting. The I am going to hit the OD's and see where I get up.

    It's going to be interesting!

Keep up the good work and you never know what might happen.

    Bonjour tout le monde!

I'm back from my vacances in rainy old France, but feeling refreshed and relaxed nonetheless. That was until I got home and found that the agency I've just finished working for has not paid me my holiday pay and I haven't been paid by my new employer for the 2 weeks I worked in August because I didn't sign my contract before I left to go on hols! Argh!

The holiday pay has gone through now but I won't get it until Friday 7th because of the bank holiday (the cut off day to be paid on the Friday is the Monday of the same week), and I'll be able to get an advance for my August pay but that won't go through until next Friday either. The upshot is that I've got to survive 2 weeks on 1 day's pay.

My finances are now in an awful state: I'm only about £40 off my OD limit of £2100 and my CC balance is going up because there are things I need to buy (mam's birthday, etc). The good news though is that after the 7th I'll only have to wait until the 26th to be paid again so September should be nice and manageable and I should be able to make a good start on clearing my debts down.

But like a good little moneysaver I've faced this head on and instead of doing any work this morning I've been consulting my bank statements and working out exactly goes where and when so I'm not feeling too panicky. Honestly, even if it's a bleak situation, it's so much better to look at it in black and white then bury your head in the sand, as I would have done not so long ago.

Only one DD to go out before the 7th and that's my £20 contact lenses so could be worse. There is a hefty elec bill to be paid though once I get my wages. Coming back from holiday feels like a fresh start though I have to say and I feel ready to tackle this again. Been catching up on this thread and Lucy's diary and everyone's positivity has really encouraged me.

My POA is this: I'll update my sig in a min and change my amount to pay off, rather than go into minus amounts of what I've paid off - that's too depressing.
I applied for an A&L account with the 0% OD at the weekend and was accepted, but don't know how much of an OD I'll have til I get the paperwork through. Looking through my last couple of months' statements sickened me when I saw how much interest I've been paying. So hopefully I'll be able to transfer most if not all of my OD over, then I'll do as Lucy is and use it only for the OD: just keep paying bits off from my Barclays account so I know where I am.
Much as it pains me to do so, I'm going to clear out my owl and put all my £2 coins in the bank just to cover me until next Fri just in case. I wanted to wait til I had a nice round number like £100 but don't want to risk being charged for going over my limit.
I'm going to put a few things on eBay tomorrow night (I read somewhere on here that listing things on a Thursday for 10 days is best as Sunday afternoons are most popular buying times and if you do a 10 day-er that means you get 2 weekends worth of views).

Then once the 7th September comes I can re-evaluate and see where I'm at. Sorry for rambling on, but it's helped me straighten things out in my head even if no-one else reads it!

Good luck with this everyone and keep up the good work! xx

Sounds like you have everything sorted. Just try and keep things to a minimum. As for breaking into your OWL you can build it up again. As for the A and L account the do a referal system where you both get £50 PM me if your interested.

Glad you had a nice holiday and are feeling relaxed. Keep up the good work and positive thinking!! At least you have realised and can do something about it all.

  • Well I think it is about time everyone updated this thread!

I've had a couple of difficult months with stuff for my car, but I just spoke to my insurance company and hopefully the claim I have outstanding will beclosed soon and I should get my £400 excess soon, which will help my situation hugely!

I've decided to give the £10 a day in September challenge a go as well, as it will be a good daily reminder and a big big boost. I don't really have much room to make savings in my budget as it is already as tight as possible, and I don't get paid overtime, so I need to focus on mystery shops and stuff to make this all work.

Anyone else ready to give a progress report with just over 3 months to go!?

    Morning!

I don't have much to report really, I've been regigging my budget/plan and hopefully I'll be able to pay a bit more off soon. Although I did go home last night to an optians (?) appointment reminder. I wear glasses and contact lens so not going isn't an option. I've just going to put it off until payday if I can.

I've paid off just over my £1000 target, which I am really pleased with, it doesn't look like I'll pay off all the debts I wanted to but something is better than nothing. I decided to work towards a total amount, as it seemed like a better idea.

Going to have another sort out over the weekend and see if there is anything I can Amazon or perhaps have a go at Ebay with. I'll let you know how I get on.

So everything is going slowly in the right direction, it's just taking it's time at the moment, I hope everyone else is doing ok.

Oh dear - I've just realised I'm not even half way...still I have 4 pay days before the end of the year and hopefully I'll get close even if I don't quite make it.
I need to get stuck back in, butt now kicked!

Off to see where I can scrounge up £137 from to get me below £8000...
