Can you ask them to organised a cheque for today and you will pick it up this afternoon?

I know that the company I work for do 2 payroll runs a month, one for everyone and one for expenses etc. They happily add you to the second run if there has been a problem.

  • Ugh, well I've been trying to get hold of this particular woman all day with no success. Then I got home from work and there was a cheque in the post for me! So really glad I couldn't get through shouting the odds! So that's another £157 to go in the bank, brings my Barclays OD down to £1190. I'm toying with paying off the Barclaycard in one fell swoop as I now have £1000 to 'play' with before I'm at my OD limit and only 11 days til payday. Yes I think I will, it'll be a psychological boost I think and tidies things up a bit. Bank first thing in the morning then!

    Congratulations!

I love paying off another debt. And if it makes you feel better then it's really worth it.

Well I have 6 days until my plan kicks into place, but really looking forward o getting rid of the store card this month. I can move onto the OD's then.

I know and no matter how much I tell myself I don't need anything, I have to have a good look anyway!

It's almost like I enjoy torturing myself or something!

  • Yes, stop - no more talk of shopping! Can't think of a worse way to spend a Saturday than among the heaving crowds anyway. Have a good workout, you'll look fantastic in a bin liner!

    Hi guys!

Well things have changed a bit. I had nearly maxed my OD at the weekend and as a result I consolidated it into my big loan and got enough to payoff the rest of my little debts to... So I am just over my payment target.

But as I feel like I have cheated I want to have £300 by Christmas to overpay on the new loan figure.... I am determind to do it this time and stop faffing around with consolidation. This is the one and I am going to overpay and get is gone as quickly as possible!!!

  • Hello all,

Well I have good and bad news. Good news- I bit the bullet and paid off the whole of my CC in one go. Bad news- as I’d feared, this brought my OD right back to its limit. I now have about £80 until payday (next Weds) so I really should manage that. If I can’t then there must be something seriously wrong with me! I’m thinking of joining the “What have you spent today?” threads to try and keep me in line on the spending front. It’s like a compulsion for me or something, I’m a disgrace! And I can never stick to a spending diary, so hopefully having someone to answer to will help!

This payday will be my first proper payday in a long time – my first monthly pay in a secure job since last September. I’m really looking forward to it, because it’s much easier being paid monthly than weekly, but I’m feeling a bit apprehensive too. This is the most I have ever earned, so: I’m not sure how high the tax will be, I’m fairly sure I’ll have to start my student loan repayments and not sure how much those will be, and I’ve also signed up to the pension scheme so again, I don’t know how much that will cost every month! Gah, still I guess all will be revealed, and I suppose the worst that can happen is it’ll take me another couple of months to finish paying off my debts.

Still, it’s nice to be able to score through that credit card, even if the total hasn’t altered much!

    How’s everyone else doing??

  • I've just checked my bank account and I'm not back down to my OD limit at all. My cheque from my holiday pay, although showing as paid in, hadn't cleared yet. But now it has, phew! I was wondering what that unaccounted-for chunk of missing money was!
