Who should pay for bridesmaids dresses?

Me four!
And no-one will moan if you've decided to swallow the cost anyway OP. It's your friend etc, not ours.0 -
You could always decline the offer to be a bridesmaid, and tell them you cannot afford the dress?0

Any reason for resurrecting a thread that's 18 months old??0

Basically I left it until my friend came home and I was able to speak to her about it (all of the messages I was receiving were from her other half)
My friend told me to give her what I could afford and she would make up the difference (without telling her OH) so we agreed to go 50/50.
The wedding happened and there were a few other issues but it all ended up ok.
However, they are now divorced (which I am in no way disappointed about.)0 -
My daughter is marrying in June. We are paying for the bridesmaid dresses, of my daughters choice and will be having them back so that we can sell them on and recoup some of the cost0

Can you get much for a second hand bridesmaids dress? Genuinely interested... (although the dresses we've bought for my bridesmaids are theirs to keep).0
