Toys, toys, toys and anxiety!

There are so many toys that sorting for charity/jumble sale woukd be a full time job in itself and I have one already, looking after a troublesome two year old at home.
It won't take that long to sort if you stop opening them up then the pieces won't go everywhere.
Put them all in one area of the loft, or designate a cupboard and let them pile up. You can then wrap them for Christmas, do a boot sale or put them in the trolleys that appear in shops in December for disadvantaged children.
Either that or just don't accept them at the door, and tell your wife that's what you are going to do. It's not a problem that can't be solved.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Try doing that with two young children trying to be in two places. My son carried a toy upstairs (one of those tubes they crawl through) and tumbled down stairs in it while I was on poo duties with my daughter in the bathroom.0 -
Come on this is not a helpless situation! If your wife won't hear a world then you'll need to be organised. Looking after a 2 yo is not such a full time job that you can't do anything else at all. For all be toys that come put them away and then decide when they can be handed. In regards to the current ones arrange a clearing out day with your kids and make it fun. Or it could be one day per toy. The game is to find all the pieces put in box get sticker to put on box decide which charity it can go to. So much learning that can go into this task. Teaching you're kids to tidy up now will really help you later. Kids love getting involved in projects so you can really make it fun. It's all about organisation and ideally you could organise it with your wife when she is home.
Organisation will help, but it won't solve the problem. If one party in a relationship refuses to listen to the concerns of the other - especially over something as important as this -it is a pretty helpless (and hopeless) situation.0 -

Stairgates?
Sorry, but if you're at home looking after them, you can't leave them unsupervised on cluttered stairs and then blame your wife who's not even in the country when they have accidents and seriously injure themselves!
Children hurt themselves all the time, sometimes its just one of those things, sometimes the supervising adult cocked up. Sounds like this was the second one.
Well, if it happened as you say...0 -

I agree with this. Being busy looking after one toddler during the day isn't an excuse not to keep the stair area clear. I think it's really wrong to blame your wife/the toys for that.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. To be fair to your wife, that could have happened even if it was the only toy they owned. A two year old on the stairs, unsupervised - is an accident waiting to happen. You use a stairgate or bring him into the bathroom with you. I think on that issue, you are blaming your wife for something that you were ultimately responsible for.0 -

He was climbing over the stairgates at the top of the stairs which I thought more dangerous so removed them.
why am I telling you this. I don't care if you think I'm a bad parent drs weren't unduly fussed.0 -

I think the word you're looking for is 'disagreeing'. You've been given plenty of helpful advice about the toys but honestly it seems that you have an answer for everything. You've asked for advice and been given some. The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean people are trolling.0
