My first post here so hope it comes out ok -

Food wise Freddie Bee crisps, Nutty bars, Terry's Moonlight choc box selection, Fizz bombs and Boddingtons bitter (I know this is still sold but the taste now is just not the same). Dundee biscuits - they were huge, sold in packs of around 4 or 5 and were a shortcake type of biscuit with very thick layer of chocolate on the top. I also remember Banana Bubbles cereal.

Other stuff Vidal Sassoon shampoo/conditioner that came in brown bottles and smelt of marzipan, Limara bodysprays (especially one called Enchanted Moon), Fairy Soap, Oil of Ulay in glass bottles, The Body Shop White Grape Skin Tonic, a Yardley ESP lipstick in a colour called Damask Orange (a fiery orangey-red), Cie by Shulton perfume. I miss a lot of the old Avon fragrances like Foxfire, Tasha, Park Avenue etc esp when they came in trinklets (consisting of creme perfume), I had a golden apple ornament for years but forgot what fragrance it contained.
  • Did Avon have a perfume called Topaz, or did I dream that one?

Yes Avon did have one called Topaz, I remember it well - sadly gone.
  • Thank you Bathory, when you reach my age you are not sure whether you have dreamt it or not :)

Thank you Bathory I was thinking about Dundee biscuits today, but couldn't remember their name, I loved them as they seemed huge and lasted ages.

Absolutely beautiful perfume :D. Last time I saw it was in one of their special 'Agent's Sales Leaflets' - around 3yrs ago.

My Agent knew how much I liked it and would let me order from her leaflet although she didn't get any commission on the orders from it.

If it's anything like how I remember "Wagon Wheels" they would probably be the size of your finger nail now :o

I still have an Avon glass pig perfume bottle about one inch long, still with perfume in. Daren't open it in case it strips the wallpapaper! LOL My aunt used to sell Avon and every year got me that year's perfume bottle. I do remember having a white glass cat, and a Victorian Lady doll, plus a single rose (all of which I unceremoniously dumped in the bin when I moved out) so don't know how the pig stayed! :rotfl: Wish I hadn't, as some Avon collectibles are worth a bit now.

My Dad would wear Avon Hud - he used so much he would be upstairs, you would be downstairs and choking on the scent! I later learned that it wasn't the amount he used, I was just vulnerable to any scents. I also used First Flowers hand cream, a very subtle girlie fragrance designed for children. (loved it!)

I think one of the things that bugged me would be, us children would get a Mr Matey bubble bath from Santa ;) and I would hoard it and use the bare minimum to make it last - then found that as my sister had usually poured hers down the sink my mother was using my Mr Matey in her bath "as it's fairer this way" and she's never changed.

Talking of Avon perfume, I used to always wear Odyssey when I was younger!

I also loved Le Jardin perfume by Dana or Max Factor, with the flowers on the lid, and also the black night time version (I know they sell a revamped version, different bottle, different smell...not my beloved Le Jardin of the 80s!)

    .

When I was a kid I had the Avon Lamp perfume bottle with the blue shade :D Loved that bottle, but mam, not being the sentimental type like me, chucked it out when sorting my room out one day :(
  • So many of you on here have such good memories of days gone by, I wonder if anyone remembers this chap's name? In the early 70's there was an American "keep fit" programme on morning tv, featuring an instructor who always wore a light blue tracksuit. He did all the excercise routines etc on a cliff top in, maybe, California (I am guessing at that as the sky was always blue and the sun always shining!). DH and I used to love watching this programme as it seemed so much more interesting than watching Eileen Fowler in the studio!

Every so often we bring this subject up but we can never summon up his name! Anyone remember?
