  • So many of you on here have such good memories of days gone by, I wonder if anyone remembers this chap's name? In the early 70's there was an American "keep fit" programme on morning tv, featuring an instructor who always wore a light blue tracksuit. He did all the excercise routines etc on a cliff top in, maybe, California (I am guessing at that as the sky was always blue and the sun always shining!). DH and I used to love watching this programme as it seemed so much more interesting than watching Eileen Fowler in the studio!

Every so often we bring this subject up but we can never summon up his name! Anyone remember?

Was it Mr Motivator - he is the only one I can think of . Or did he appear on breakfast tv later?

I was thinking it was Mr Motivator.

When I think back to the seventies and Avon perfumes I think they were lovely scents - then the 'power' perfumes came in! well named as they were so powerful they could knock you flat. Like another poster I am extremely sensitive to smells. My DD was banned from Spraying on her John-Paul Gaultier perfume in the house. and I didn't need to HEAR her coming in at night - I could SMELL her before she even came through the porch.
I can remember going out for a meal and drink one evening with OH and he had to get the drinks and order the meal at the bar while I went into the lounge. he brought the drinks back and they reeked of 'Poison'. I made him cancel the order and we left. I couldn't have eaten or drunk anything there! the manager asked why and I told him that the barmaid was wearing perfume and I could taste it - and its against elf and safety to wear perfume while serving food and drink.

No. not Mr Motivator didn't look anything like him. Sorry nor was it Richard Simmons. I googled him, just in case, but alas no! I am beginning to think DH and I were the only people who watched this programme! Perhaps everyone else was at work! DH worked shifts and I was at home with small children so watching this was part of our morning routine! I have mentioned it to a few folks over the years but nobody remembers him and a Google search reveals nothing!!

The rage for most 14 year-olds at our school in 1970 was a Mary Quant nail polish called Brazen Bronze - a small spherical bottle bearing the iconic MQ daisy logo. The best match we could find in lipstick was Biba's Oakwood.

We lived in London and often went to the West End on Sat afternoon with Mum. I haven't been to Oxford St for 15 years, it just doesn't appeal.

With regard to the candlewick bedspread, I was a very naughty girl when I was young because I used to pick the candlewick out. When Mum made my bed in the morning the floor and bed would be covered with these bits. :)

I used to do this but I used to say that it must have fallen out during the night! It was quite theraputic really.
  • Hmm loads of things!!

Brannigans crisps in the brown paper bag
Lyons chocolate cupcake type things... thick silver case with sponge topped with lovely thick icing.
Big bang ice Lilly, same as a chocolate mini milk, covered with pink popping candy coating.
    Feastwich ice cream bar.
Sainsbury pre packed sandwich chicken tripple... the one that had chicken tikka in it.
    Diet coke with vanilla
    Nestle chocolate coated mini pretzels
I miss the way galaxy USED to taste!

Fastini sparkling wine... used to come in massive bottles from Iceland and I LOVE it but numerous internet searches have returned zilch. Seriously if anyone knows where to get this I shall love you forever!
