Seems I'm not the only one who thinks chocolates and chocolate bars have been spoilt since our collective youth. Are we remembering through rose-coloured specs or have the manufacturers been cutting quality all these years ? Personally I find most choc tastes the same now, can't think of any that I would consider a treat.
Perhaps my tastebuds are jaded - they are 58 y/o !0 -

nope, I am 50 and chocolate and sweets definetly tasted better back then...... could be less additives and artificial around then......and the choices were so good too.......shame the companies cant do a rotation of the different chocolates over a period of years....not connected but the Disney films are rotated like this.. to appeal to new audiences if you get my drift......xxxx0 -
My grandad always had a bag of Riley's Chocolate Toffee Rolls in his drawer but I was only allowed one if he got the bag out himself and let me take one. Woe betide me if I dared to sneak one out of the bag myself! I remember letting the silky smooth dark chocolate coating melt in my mouth and then chewing away on the toffee filling. Heaven in a bag! Rileys are no more and today's copies are just not the same!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Someone mentioned Blue Bird toffee a while back, and I've just remembered I've got one of their toffee hammers somewhere. Grandad used to bash the h#ll out of those slabs. He ate every last crumb.0

As I said, Cadbury's chocolate has changed completely since the takeover by Krafty.
Ooooh Bluebird toffees .... we used to live not far from their factory and I adored their liquorish rolls. Totally addictive!Normal people worry me.0 -

I'm also in total agreement with this.
Another old favourite that has been greatly altered is HP Sauce which was once made in Birmingham and is now made in The Netherlands. It just doesn't taste the same as it used to. It's all gloopy and has a jelly-like consistency and it doesn't pour like it used to.0 -
Anyone remember Dimension Shampoo... with "real perfume" ? :rotfl: What perfume was it anyway?!!! :rotfl:0

I don't remember Dimension, but I've just remembered Empathy - 'for hair over forty'
I can vaguely recall me and my sisters thoughtfully(!) buying my mum some once for a laugh on her birthday when she finally got round to admitting that she hadn't actually been 21 for the last twenty years running
