  • Ok, so I went for a quick shop today & took my mum who likes to browse so my quick shop took nearly 2 hours (including travel) which is really frustrating when you're trying not to spend.

I did go over my budget by £5.42 but there was a special offer on a few bits that I always use and it would be criminal not to take advantage. If I'd got everything at normal cost I would have paid about £12 so theoretically I've actually saved £6.58.

On the plus side I need a new kettle & there was one in there reduced by a third to £13 and so my lovely Mum decided to surprise me with it. I now have a lovely kettle that makes nice cuppas and no spillage or burning of my fingers. Yay mum!!

I've also just had a call from Australia and it appears my uncle is probably going to be leaving us tonight which is such a shame. He's been in agony for about 6 weeks so it will no doubt be a relief for him but it's still a really sh*tty way for things to happen.

Anyhoo, I'm going to go and have a lovely fresh cuppa whilst listening to Littley have her guitar lesson & get some more work done.

Have a good evening everyone x

  • Have just paid the £24 into the holiday pot from the water money saved. That's the year's worth so on day 7 the amount is £64 which means I only have to find another £16 this week to hit target!

  • So sorry about your uncle. Big hugs to you :( At least he won't be suffering any more.

Great news on only being £16 away from your target already this week! How lovely of your mum to get you a kettle. Yay for mums :)

Hope you're okay. Hug littley extra tight tonight! xx
  • That's exactly my thoughts too about uncle but not something I felt I could say to my cousin when she rang earlier. I haven't actually seen uncle since 1997 and I felt he was quite old then, but I was quite young so I don't suppose he was really. He's a funny old sock, has that sleep problem where you just drop off asleep when you're in the middle of a sentence then wake a half hour later or so & carries on like nothings happened. Always made me smile that. My aunt & him let me stay with them for a few months when I was travelling & I'll always be grateful of him for that - even if I didn't fully appreciate it at the time.

Littley has been the lovely little thing she is and gone to bed early to watch The Enchanted Far Away Tree which I always think is brilliant. She watches all this Disney rubbish with Selena or Bridget or whoever most of the time, but then sometimes she'll snuggle down & watch this film which was one of my favourites when I was a kiddie. Happy days!

I've just looked into doing a course I've been interested in for a while & the company doesn't include prices on the info online. Why do people do this? It's so frustrating. I'm not 100% sure if I'll do it but it could be a good investment for a future job, unless I don't like it! Meh, sure I will!

Right, off to give Littley extra hugs. Why do kids give the best hugs in the world? There's nothing better than them is there? :) xx

    Hiya Sassy,

I had a few pages to catch up on...

Firstly sorry to hear the latest news on your uncle xx

I think your decision to go on holiday is a good one, there will always be bills to pay and as you say the timing with DD's education will be right as it's before SATs and high school etc. Your determination shines through your diary and we are all cheering you on xxx

Glad you got a car sorted too. :-)

  • Hi Trixxibelle

I can't believe you've read all my ramblings! I do go on a bit so thank you for staying with me :)

I told my cousin today on the phone we're aiming for next Easter so now that they know it makes it even more out there. I think if we didn't go I'd be absolutely gutted and feel I'd let both Littley and myself down.

Still, £64 in 7 days without overly trying is a bit odd and if that continues I'll be happy.

    Night :) x

  • I loved, loved all those Enid Blyton books too. When I am looking after my friend's daughter, I will use it as an excuse to watch that film you mentioned. I am sure she would enjoy it, or watch it again to humour me!

Thinking about you and your family at this time. I loved your description of dear uncle xx.

  • Morning all

This morning we found out that my uncle passed away in the early hours of the morning which although expected is still very sad. My parents and I sat around talking about our memories of him this morning and we were all surprised with what we can remember of him as we always thought he was a bit of a Mavis but he was actually really lovely. It's such a shame.

We also found out - through the emails of condolence that got sent - that another uncle of my father's has also passed away recently and we hadn't been informed. It's such a shame but dad's family is all over the place and they don't really keep in touch. Now I have their details we can stay in touch more.

Have a good day everyone xx
