  • Ah, the perfect outlook! Good on you! These are the things that we just need to remind ourselves of on those odd down days :) xx

Yup, and there have definitely been a few down days this week. However. Sun is shining, my to do list is complete for the week and in 45 mins I get to collect Littley. :) xx

  • Am extremely chuffed to have got £40 for the holiday in my first week of the £6 a day challenge! I think I picked a good week to start it in as it's given me the confidence to know it can be done. However, I am also fully aware that it may not be feasible each week but I will try my best to do it.

Have a good weekend everyone and thanks for being there for me. Here's to a better and brighter week next week :) xx

  • Morning all

Well, it's just turning 10am and I've had a productive day already - think I need to lie down now! lol

I got my latest pension statement and noticed the payments I've been making have not been allocated to my account so one very long call later the company is conducting and investigation & will let me know where my money has gone. They found one payment already but are now going to look for the rest. It wasn't a lot but that's not the point, it's my money and should be in my account.

I have also set up a savings account for emergency/loss of contract money. Last month's loss of contract made me keep saying I should have some back up money in case this happens and I didn't do anything. But losing last week's contract was a bit of a shock. fortunately I have money saved for Littley's birthday so that's great and the relief I felt from that has pushed me to set up the emergency fund. So I have a new figure on my signature for it - a whole £5!!!! Best not spend it all at once :)

It's tricky though as I want to save for that and I want to pay off my debts and I want to save for my holiday - it's never ending! I don't know where I'm supposed to get the time to do any actual work haha.

I've also filled in the form for my council tax. As I'm a low earner I get a little bit off the bill. However, I do wonder if the extraordinary amount of questions and proof they require (far more than the tax man!) is worth the pennies I get off - and it's usually only pennies. But as the saying goes, look after the pennies..... and you'll have lots of pennies. Or something like that!

We walked to school today so that's another 45p to the pot. We also got invited to dinner on both Sat & Sun so that was awesome. I'm absolutely skint atm as waiting for payday so these meals were a godsend.

I've not heard anything from any contracts I've bid on but I'm not letting it get me down, just means I need to bid on more.

I've put a few bits on eBay but not got any bids yet. Again, not letting it get me down.

Don't think I'll get the £40 this week either but I'm still working on it - yes I know it's only Monday! I do however still have half a tank of petrol left from my weekend away - over a week later!! This would never have happened in the old car so for that I'm hugely happy.

I've also worked out what to get my mum for Mother's Day and so far I think it's going to cost me about a tenner & for that she'll get some hand treatment stuff, bottle of wine, chocs, flowers & card. I've a few ideas of how to do all this without spending (thanks to Kirstie Allsop!) but we'll see how it goes. I already have the box of chocs as I bought them for Littley's school as a thank you and was told chocolates & sweets weren't allowed at school due to allergies, health blah blah. This coming on the day she came home from school with a chocolate & a sweet for World Book Day. Double standard bullsh*t if you ask me but hey ho, a free treat for my mummy!

Think that's all. Got work to do this week which is great. Got a week of wondering if I'm gonna get paid this week which isn't great but fingers crossed I will. Have re-jigged a few payments out to ensure that I'm not tempted to use the old cc so should be ok.

I'm well aware that I'm running on now and if you all could tell me to shut up you would so I'm gonna chuff off and do some work and catch you all later.

Have a great day! :) xx

  • Afternoon went ok ish!

Phoned the water company to find out why my bill so high when I use barely any water. They said I was on wrong plan so changed it so I'm now saving a whole £2 a month!! lol When I worked out my bill I'm actually only using £10 of water a month, the rest is sewerage charges & standing charges. Can't bear standing charges but what can you do?

Also rang phone people to see if could do anything there. Found out I'd been missold my tariff but again, what can you do? Did get offered an iPad at a tenner a month though on a 12month contract. Asked about 4 times to repeat then thought I need one next year may as well get it when it's such a good offer (thanks to loyalty points apparantly).

Got put through to diff department who told me that it would be £36 a month for 24 months - er no thank you! He then got quite snotty with me for pointing out that if I saved £36 a month for 24 years I'd have enough to buy my own iPad & fill it up with shed loads of apps. Needless to say I didn't get it and am quite chuffed that I said no as getting an iPad is my achilles heel in spending.

Anyhoo, today I have therefore only saved on my water bills so will put that in the £6 a day challenge, putting the money into the pot when I get paid.

Have a good evening everyone! x

  • Hey hun

Argh, phone companies (and call centres in general!) are useless. Can't believe one person told you £10 a month for 12 months then it turned into £36 for 24 months! You couldn't get further difference even if you tried. If you have the name of the first person you spoke to I'd be tempted to call again and report it, because it's total mis-selling.

Hey, £2 a month is still a saving! Better in your pocket than in the water company's.

I do hope you hear something about some new contracts soon. Don't let it dampen your spirits - keep on bidding. Some will come along sooner or later!

    Have a lovely evening xx
  • Morning all

Today we drove to school which annoyed me but had to be done. I had a whiney Littley who didn't feel well and the only way I could get her out of the house was the promise of a drive to school. While it's annoying at least she is at school.

I've still not heard anything back on any contracts as yet but am still bidding on more so something will turn up. I'm a pretty optimistic person usually so I'm sure something will work out - it's just a case of when!

I've just checked eBay and nothing has had any bids or watchers or anything. I think I'm going to car boot everything I have as I usually do quite well at those. I have a mate who's going to do one soon so we can go have fun together. It's just finding a week that fits us both.

I have to go food shopping today and have about £15 to spend and a list that's probably about £40 realistically so this is going to be fun. A lot of the stuff can be carried over to next week's list but still, it's going to be interesting!

    Have a great day everyone :) x

  • Just had a reply to a contract I bid on. It was for a position that was needed on an as & when basis and the date that was empty has been filled. However, they have told me that they will use me on future occasions so that's good. :)

    Excellent news! :j

Good luck with your shopping today. Just stick to the basics and you'll be fine. Not long until payday (hopefully?!) when you can stock up on more of the nicer things! xx
