  • Morning Sassy!

It is all sounding very exciting and achievable. There was a DFW on this board who had a vision board, on which she pinned things that kept her focused on what she wished to achieve. DD might enjoy something like that, with pictures of Oz on it, targets etc?

    Have a great day x.

We actually have a print out of Australia tacked to a kitchen cupboard that Littley colours in when money has been paid into the actual account. She's coloured WA & 90% of the Northern Territory. She knows that when we only have Tasmania to colour in we can book the flights. It seems to be working atm but maybe a few pictures too would help so that's a good idea.

I got the fiver from MYSurv today so that's gone into the pot so that's helped my £6 a day challenge. I changed my car insurance with the hope that it would reduce but even though the car's a smaller engine it's actually a better car so it's stayed about the same. Slightly annoying but at least it hasn't gone up.

Right, off to change my signature so catch you all later! Have a good day :) x

That is another great idea. I am going to think up some visuals to use on my journey.

It is good to see your £6.00 a day challenge making headway so quickly.

    Have a great day x.

  • Morning Rainbow

I'm not sure my £6 a day challenge will be like this every week. I've been fortunate enough to get a few extra bits and pieces this week thrown my way & have just thrown it straight into the pot. My theory is that if I'm over one week and under the next it should hopefully balance out....

Heard the news today that not only is Uncle getting worse it's literally "when" he passes and not "if" which is sad. My Aunt seems to be getting bad too and the family are worrying about how she is going to cope. I've told them that she has to get better as she has to meet my Littley next year so that's an even bigger incentive to get my butt in gear.

Anyway, onwards and upwards! Not had any surveys or Mystery Shops this week as yet so hopefully something will come up soon. Have bid on a few contracts and not heard anything back either.

On a plus side we walked today so that's another 45p and I've also shoved a tenner into the birthday fund. Littley's birthday is in about 6 weeks or so and I'm £55 short of the target. But I'll get there!

Have a good day everyone xx

  • Ooh, just remembered. I made some napkins out of an old pillow case last night and they've come out quite well if I do say so myself.

In the process of looking for my sewing box (with the fancy stuff not repairing stuff!) I managed to find my old cross stitch bag which not only had some projects not quite finished but also a fair few projects not even started! One of which will make a lovely present for my Aunt (different one) this Christmas. Top work!!

  • Your poor uncle has deteriorated so quickly, that must be such a shock for you all. Your visit will give auntie something to focus on, in the future, so that will be a blessing x.

  • Just found out a contract of mine is finishing at the end of this month which means I'm now another £250 out of pocket. This means no over payments and no savings for the foreseeable future. To say I am devastated is an understatement.

I do have enough to live on if I juggle things but at the moment things seem quite poo.

I'm sure something will come up soon but when you keep plugging away at trying to get new work and get nothing it kind of gets you down.

Just ignore me, feeling very sorry for myself at the moment. Normal service will resume soon :( Have a good day everyone x

  • Massive hugs hun.

So sorry to hear about your uncle :( As RainbowBridge said above, you focusing on your trip will also give your aunt something to look forward to and that will keep her going through the hard times.

Also very sorry to hear you're losing another contract. Try not to lose heart too much though, I have no doubt that something else will come up soon. Try not to worry too much xx
  • Morning all

Ok, so just had my mum round who kindly let me snot all over her shoulder and talked things through. General consensus is that as I'm feeling pretty rough today I was more negative than I should have been.

Have worked out all my money and I can cover all my bills (and eat - bonus!) until around mid-September. This is on basic money. I am still doing mystery shopping & surveys & odd bits here and there and this money will still go into the holiday pot regardless of what is going on in the bills world. Mum suggested that if I didn't do this I would get to disheartened and not go. I'm not really sure how we're going to go as I currently have no money to put into the pot regularly but I'm determined we will because essentially, next Easter is the only time really that we can go as there will be SATS and high school and the like soon after.

With regards to savings. This month will see me have enough for Littley's birthday. I shall then put anything else into an emergency fund. This clearly isn't going to be too much but at least it's something. I'm immensely grateful I've managed to save enough to cover most of her birthday already. I shall still be putting money into Christmas fund but this can go on the back burner until something comes up.

Looking for the positives, if I hadn't been using MSE and had changed the way I look at things financially I would be in a right mess with this news but I'm not so I'm quite proud of myself.

Stealing a few things from other people's diaries:

Things to do - get new contracts!

Things I am grateful for - a fab Mum, better financial understanding, an awesome daughter and the great support I get on here from people I've never met.

As you can tell I am more positive now and so onwards and upwards! :) xx
