  • Morning all

A bit frustrated yet happy today for several reasons but main one I'm guessing is that I'm getting close that time of the month that always makes me cry - yes the will I or won't I get paid time!! lol

So, this week has been so random I don't know where to start. First of all I took littley to hospital last night for her ankle as was getting frustrated at Dr's advice and it was a good job I did. She's injured her ankle in a more complicated way (their words!) and so if she followed the advice of our doc it will get worse. She was very tearful yesterday as she is in a lot of pain, has exhausted herself trying to get about and she has also realised the true nature of people as so many people she didn't even consider friends were all offering to help her about. To say she was overwhelmed is an understatement! To make her feel better I offered her whatever she wanted for dinner & she asked for delivered pizza - when will I learn!?!? I gave in as felt so bad for her and ordered only for her to only eat a slice or two and cry again as "I'm so full and tired now mummy but you've wasted your money". Poor lamb went to sleep on me which was lovely but as she's coming up to 9 was a bit squashy for me!

I also had some good news yesterday that a debt I'd been querying has been cleared so that's brilliant news. I hadn't put it on my signature as it was a debt I didn't believe I owed and now they have agreed that's a load off my mind. I'm so happy it's unreal.

On the back of that I had some not so good news today that a debt of an overpayment from DWP that I had repaid 6 years ago was still owing. Now, this is a grrrr one as I'd paid it & the DWP decided I hadn't & did investigation blah blah decided I still owed the money. Tried to sort out payment today and they say it's gone to a collection agency. Rang CA who say DWP have taken the debt back. Rang DWP who said no, with CA. I said if you don't want my money that's fine as I've already paid this once and they were no no, we want your money. So another investigation is taking place. Whether or not they decide I have to pay anything is for them to decide but proof of payment is not good enough for DWP - be warned!!

I now have heaps of boring work to do and I just want to curl up and have a nap but these things must be done! Hope you all have a good day x

  • Oh no, your poor littley! Hope she's okay. Does she need to have a cast on or anything? Hopefully she feels better soon. She's lucky to have such a lovely mum to look after her ;) So lovely that kids at school were offering to help her get around too.

That's great news about the one debt being cleared - but not so great with DWP - grr! Hopefully they come back to you to tell you it's cleared, but it sounds like they don't have a clue about it themselves anyway! Hopefully it gets sorted soon :S

Have a lovely weekend hun! xx
  • Well done for listening to your instinct with regards to DD. Mum knows best! It must be unbelievably frustrating to be able to prove that you have paid a debt, and for that to be ignored. Would it be worth dropping an e-mail to your MP. Our one is very good when it comes to dealing with government departments which muck up.

    Have a great weekend.

  • Morning all

Littley's on the mend now. Some mums I'd never spoken to came over to me at school pick up to say they had heard that she had injured her ankle & offered crutches they had at home to borrow. At that point I understood what littley meant about the true nature of others. It was so lovely. She used some crutches over the weekend but is hobbling/limping around today without them. And I made some new friends so all is good.

We've had so many problems with misdiagnosis over the years that I now just go straight to A&E if I'm not happy with the doctors. Although saying that they missed a broken arm a few years back so even they're not great!

With regards to DWP. They finally got back to me and I have to pay the money. So frustrating and the staff are just so rude it's unbelievable. I have the money to pay it all now but because I'm stubborn have set up a plan so they can have it in dribs and drabs. There's no interest to pay so s*d 'em! lol

This weekend was very productive. I painted the nest of tables that I bought with some radiator paint that I'd forgotten I had. Was going well til I ran put of paint! Have to go and buy some more but it's under a fiver a tin so not too bad. Also, my shredder completely gave up the ghost at work so had to replace it. It came out of work's money but still annoying. Anyway, was about to bin it all when I realised I also had a can of red paint so took the bin part and spray painted that and now I have a lovely magazine rack/recipe holder for my kitchen and it cost nothing!

Littley and I also made some cakes for afternoon tea and then homemade burger & chips which were yummy if I say so myself! Meat is so expensive when you've not got a decent butcher nearby and it's only for 1 and a half meals (she eats very little as she is very little!) so finding the burger recipe is great as we can get some mince and have 2 very different meals over 2 days and not feel we're having the same. (we had bolognaise for the other day).

Sunday we were taken out to the beach and had dinner by my parents as part of their wedding anniversary weekend. Was lovely to get out and about, even lovelier that it was free and stupendously lovelier that it was so warm and I caught the sun!!

Have a great day everyone xx

  • You sound like you have had a great few days! I love your fighting spirit with regards to DWP!

That magazine rack/recipe holder sounds very chic and certainly it's a completely original piece (it made me giggle).

Hope you have a great week.

  • Thanks RBR! My mum popped in for a cuppa today so obviously I proudly showed her my gorgeous new magazine rack & in the true spirit of saving money she promptly went home and came back with some of her mags she knew I'd like to put in there. I now have several Style at Home & Your Home which are full of things I'd love to do - aaaargghhhh!! And so it begins!!

  • Morning all

A bit later today due to a surprise visit from a friend and a meeting to attend, although the meeting was a lot shorter than expected - yay!

Today we were able to walk to school, albeit very slowly. It was really lovely to be back in the swing of things and with the sun shining it was even nicer. That means at last I can put another 45p in the pot. Although I've been putting bits across each day that 45p not increasing in my signature has been quite frustrating. I'm sure by this time last month I had put across a good five or six quid. Ah well.

Yesterday we had pitta bread pizza for tea & tonight we're having tuna pasta sweetcorn so 2 delish meals at barely anything cost. Always the best way.

Not much else to say so I won't! Have a good day everyone x

  • I have not had tuna pasta and sweetcorn for a long while. I used to like it cold for lunch, mixed with a bit of mayonnaise. I will add that to my lunch menus. Thanks x.

  • We have it often as we both enjoy it. I've started measuring it out beforehand so the bin isn't as full any more. I also do enough for both our lunches tomorrow. We mix it with salad cream, one of the few things I have to have branded. It's funny isn't it. I do own brand on most things but my salad cream, tea bags, ketchup & coffee have to be specific brands. And because they're slightly more expensive I buy quite a few when they're on offer and have quite a supply in the cupboard!

    Enjoy your lunch! x

  • I must start measuring out rice and pasta, as I always seem to bin some. Good idea!

I am with you with regard to some branded foods, they are unbeatable and are often on great offers.

Keep up the great work x.
