Hi Rainbow
I had a great weekend thanks, did you?
So, with it being school holidays I'm trying to balance out work/kiddie time as well as where to save money & where to spend money.
So far we've gone food shopping and that's it! Although I did but Littley's Easter egg - reduced from £8 to £3 so couldn't complain. I'm thinking of taking Littley to see the Muppets at some point so will go on a Wed to make use of that lovely offer a certain phone company do. Got to get something back from them! And of course, snacks will be taken in with us.
I've managed to put another £6 into the challenge today which is great. I'm slightly behind where I should be - should be £132 - but I'm not to worried as getting a mystery shopper payment this week which will go straight in there. Obviously this isn't how I wanted to do it but at least I know it's there.
Have been told I'm going to get the last payment from the cancelled contract this week so finger's crossed! Haven't found anything to replace that yet but still working on it - I won't be knocked down! lol. Although I'm ok til September (so long as I don't spend!) I'm aware there's a 6 week holiday before then too. Luckily we have a sealed tin which we've been putting 5 & 10p coins in so hopefully there'll be something of worth in there - even if it's only enough for a cinema or beach trip. Meh, it'll be fun whatever.
Right, Littley's run off so best get a bit of work done while it's quiet! Have a great day everyone xxCC1: 10273.70/6892.56. CC2: 1000/832

£132.00 is great, I can see that holiday vision getting a bit brighter, fingers crossed for the payment and a new contract, you certainly deserve it. Enjoy the school holidays, I certainly intend to."I wondered why the Frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me". £9/£250

Morning all
So, another day another dollar. Or £3 anyway! Got a bit of spare change from food shop so shoved it straight into the tin so that's halfway towards today's challenge. It's a bit tight today so think it will only be £3 but at least it's something.
On a plus note, I had to put some petrol into the car yesterday. This may sound an odd plus but I last filled it up on 16th March and have driven many many miles since then and only now had to fill up. Last car would have needed filling up on 17th or 18th I'm sure. I'm so ridiculously happy it's unreal.
Anyway, Littley is nagging me to get going so I best be off. Have a good
day everyonex

Hey hun
Hope you and littley are enjoying the hols so far!
£3 in your jar today is fab. Even if you can't make £6 every day, days will come along with small windfalls etc. to make up for the slower days. It'll even out & you'll get there
There's plenty of free stuff you can do over the summer holidays, so even if you don't have too much spare change I'm sure you'll both have a blast whatever you do!
Enjoy your day xx0 -
Hi guys
Well, today's been a good but naughty day for me I'm afraid. I took Littley to a gymnastic session which she loved & have booked her in for another one on Friday afternoon. This is mainly a bribe as Friday's are my worst day work wise and she is going to be majorly ignored for most of it! Hope it works.
The reason it's been naughty is because my faithful lappy is definitely giving up the ghost & is making everything I do take so much longer and keeps crashing etc. I should have got a new one last year but have been trying to keep it going - I can't actually use it now unless it's plugged in! Anyway, having looked at all the options for a new lappy I realised that I really don't want to get a windows8 laptop as I really really hate them. So, please don't shout, I've ordered myself a MacBook Air.
I know I know, they're really expensive BUT! I've done the maths and long term it's a way better investment than a windows laptop. It's on a BNPL scheme so I will try to put money towards it before it reaches interest but if it does reach interest so be it. It's also a taxable asset so theoretically I can now earn an extra wad of money this tax year as I can reduce this off the bill.
I actually feel sick that I've spent so much money but I know deep down that it's better as I can get more work done - currently it takes me about 4 hours to do 3 hours work which doesn't sound too bad (alright it does) but I get so frustrated it's ridiculous.
The BNPL should come in after I've gone on the holiday which is another reason I'm not bothered about the interest because if I manage to save enough for my hol in the next year I'll be able to pay off the laptop in the year after. So theoretically I should only be paying 1 year of interest & be getting a better working life, money of tax (you know what I mean) and won't have to replace anything for a lot longer than a windows.
The other good thing about getting the macbook is that Littley uses these at school and so can continue to create her podcasts & news bulletins and whatever else she does while she's at home.
So I'm sitting here bracing myself for the b*ll*cking I'm sure I'm now going to get but long term the pros & cons worked out better to do this.
I've just read that all back and can see quite clearly that I am still trying to convince myself that it's the right decision!
And breathe....x

I'll not shout at you.. I'm incredibly jealous!
I had a MacBook and an iMac previously (I sold the iMac to get some cash, and the MacBook was very old). I absolutely love Apple computers. And I totally understand your hatred towards Windows 8 - it's a god-awful system for laptops; I can imagine it's semi-bearable on touchscreen devices but other than that - just no! I have a Windows 7 laptop now and that's perfectly fine. It's no mac, but it's fine.
So yes.. enjoy your new purchase and don't feel too guilty. You can probably sell your existing laptop even as spares/repair for a bit of cash too to go towards the holiday fund.0 -
Evening,
At the end of the day it doesn't matter what anyone thinks - it sounds as if you have planned to pay it back so that sounds good. And you need it for your work so that is whats important.
I think you are doing brilliantly. Wish I could put £3 away a day - it will definitely make such a difference.
Have a great night xxE.F. #38 240.55/1000 SPC8 #375

Hi Sassy, TBH, it sounds like you had no real choice. Your work is absolutely dependent on a reliable computer. If you want to ramp things up, you have to have a great, professional reputation.
I did a mystery shop at P* Wr*ld last week on the Appl* rep and Mac comps and I was blown away by them. I can't justify one as I really just need reliability, word, excel and outlook, but if I could .................

Hi Rainbow
I too need reliability, word etc so have got the microsoft for mac package too. I also did a mystery shop for the exact same thing you did (ESA?! lol) and the bloke there was awesome at the selling - just failed everywhere else hehe. I've been thinking about it for so long so am glad I've bitten the bullet and gone for it.x
