Hope the job interview went well. Enjoy the rest of your Easter.

    Hi Mags

I haven't heard back from the interview yet which is frustrating but one of those things. I also had someone get in touch with me regarding a job but they wanted me to do the same as what I'm doing at the moment x 25 for a fifth of the money I'm on now - seriously!!

Hope your weekend is going well :) x

  • What is a spiritual guardian? I have not heard that term before. Have a wonderful weekend x.

    Evening Rainbow

A Spiritual Guardian is basically a God Parent without the religious aspect.

Basically I absolutely love the idea of welcoming a child to the world and their family and friends and found Christenings a lovely experience to attend. However, I don't go to church and I'm not overly religious so I thought if I had a church service it would be hypocritical of me.

I had a look online and heard about Naming Ceremonies and found a sample of what is said.

So some friends and I decorated the garden & I invited everyone I hold dear to me over, a close friend of mine "hosted" the ceremony and I asked some friends to be Littley's Spiritual Guardians. They all got up and said their piece which included lovely memories of how we met, what we've done together and what they would do for my daughter. We finished the ceremony by planting a tree that has bloomed into a lovely huge tree over the last 8 years.

It was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly, birds in the trees and we were surrounded by love - and means so much to me.

I'm aware I got a bit slushy there but it really was a great day and something I would recommend to anyone not wishing to go down the religious route. :) xx

  • I loved reading your description of your daughter's naming ceremony, it sounded incredibly moving and appropriate, and spiritual.

  • Afternoon all

It's the last day of the holidays and our nice relaxing day has been rather busy!

Booked Littley in for a hair cut this afternoon & found out that since the new owners have taken over it is now a lot less for her trim - a saving of £7.30!

Had to take Littley's bike back to Halfords though as the pedals broke & she fell off it at the weekend. Wasn't happy although as it was only in the garden and she cycles as fast as a newt with a zimmer frame she only hurt her knees! Bloke in the shop was hugely apologetic & took it out to the mechanic who informed us that the mechanism in the frame between the pedals didn't have enough grease in it so blah blah I got lost there! What I do know is that they replaced it and added more stuff in a "belt & braces" manoeuvre. Bloke then asked Littley if she hurt herself & she said yes so he offered her something for free to say sorry for the trouble. I thought he meant a drink bottle or something else cheap but no, Littley now has a £24.99 helmet for the huge cost of NOTHING!! Gobsmacked but very happy. Will put the £20 I had budgeted at end of month into holiday pot.

Then trundled off to Sainsbury's and saved a whole £2.71 to have off my next shop which is always nice. Especially as they gave me £2.50 worth of Nectar points at the weekend as the fresh milk I opened that was bbe date 20th was lumpy. Tweeted them, they responded & I got the points. I'm now up to just under £30 on my nectar points which is great.

Still haven't heard back from that job but had a brainwave and just googled my job with the words "job uk" after it and now have 4 jobs to apply for. I'm a bit daunted as the salary is quite high but if I worked out how much I could earn full time on my hourly rate I wouldn't be worrying about my bills. Such an obvious thing really so don't know why I didn't do it earlier. Will be working on my cv tonight.

Think that's everything. Now going to finish my cuppa & eat some chocolate egg then off to the hairdressers.

Have a lovely evening :) xx

  • Just had a quick look at the old spreadsheet and realised that the payments to CC2 hadn't been coming off so have now updated with the correct figures which is a little less owing than it was. Not a big difference but it made me happy!

  • Morning all!

Littley's back to school today which meant I could put 45p over to the walk to school pot - yay! It's strange how that little 45p meant so much :)

Phone bill came out today and was £11 less than expected to that went into £6 a day challenge so that's now at £183 which isn't too bad really. I was aiming for £160 a month and have gone £23 over in 4 weeks so bang on target. Haven't been able to put as much in as I'd hoped this last few weeks with it being the holidays but all is good so I'm happy. Littley will also be happy as she can colour a bit more in of the chart.

One more thing, does anyone use cashback sites such as topcashback or quidco? I got recommended them recently by someone who doesn't use them so had a look and there's deals on all the things I've just bought which is annoying! I was just wondering if they were worth it or if anyone had problems with them?

Have a good day everyone :) xx

    Hi there

Just read through most of your diary as I liked the name.

Personally I love the cashback sites and regularly use them. Why don't you get someone you know to refer you and then you will both benefit.

I now check any purchase through MSE cashback maximiser to find out which is the best site to use (on the front page - a piggybank).

Even shopping with the big four gets some cashback - all worth having. I have had over £1200 in the last four years without really trying. I also check the click/snap on them to see if I can get any money back on them too. I do surveys through them too - all ways to add to the pennies.

Not read everything but don't know if you do nectar adpoints - watching ads to get nectar points, also signed up for the First train accounts and surveys with them too. I do them whilst watching TV.

Just a thought - how about a pictorial "chart" for your littley to show how close you are to filling the holiday pot.

    Take care

  • Hey hun

You sound to have been doing well this past week or so :)

Sorry to hear Littley's bike broke already - BUT fantastic on the freebie. Bet she was dead chuffed!

The cashback sites are definitely worth signing up to. I have Quidco, and although I do forget to go through it most of the time it's handy to have, especially if you need a "big" purchase. I got £100 when I first signed up to Sky, which was great. I only get a few £ here and there now, but it's all money for nothing so definitely worth doing.

Have a great day :) xx

    Hi,

Thanks for stopping by - welcome!

I'll go and take a look at that piggy bank and see what it says so thanks for that. I do the nectar adpoints as well as the nectar surveys - do you do those? They've been a bit quiet atm or that may just be my profile!

We have a print out of Australia with a set amount for each state and colour it in as we save. We've got WA and Northern Territory and we're now working through SA. It took a while to get going but through MSE and a totally new mind change we're getting there a lot quicker.

Thanks again and hope to hear from you again! :)
