  • Things sound great for you at the moment!

I hope littley is thrilled with her new bike :)

Excellent news about the job! Even if it is just as and when, it's fantastic and will bring the Oz total even closer!

Btw.. I am SO very impressed with just how much you have in your holiday pot already. You're doing fantastically xx
  • Morning all

I think you can safely say Littley is thrilled with her bike. I videoed her doing a happy dance in the middle of the store yesterday and she's badgered my mum to go out for a walk today so she can go out on her bike. Add to that the fact we can fit it into the car she's nagging me to go away this weekend with our bikes so she can go for a bike ride by the beach. We did it a few years ago and she loved it. I've just got to get her a helmet which I'll do in a few weeks time when she actually needs one. In all honesty she doesn't really need one for where she cycles but the amount of grief you get from parents (some I don't even know) if she cycles down a street with no cars without a helmet is unbelievable.

Not much else to say except I've got to go buy oranges today to hopefully keep the stinking fox that keeps cr*pping on my veggie patch to do one and cr*p elsewhere. This is really annoying me as the fox is coming through from the garden at the back of ours. The woman who lives there had let the end of her garden grow wild & this fox had set up home and she's very much an animal lover so was feeding it. She's now decided to do the garden up and so the fox has been unsettled. Cue big gap in hedge where I've not fixed the fence yet, add to that new veggie patch and I've got the little b&gger. If I could get a shotgun I would lol! If anyone's got any other ideas of humane ways to get rid of foxes I'd love to know. I say humane as I don't want to damage my veggies!!

Not much else to write so I'm off to finish some work. Still not decided on going to the coast this weekend - any thoughts?

Have a good day! :) xx

    Hi Sassy,

Getting the bike early was a really great idea!! Your weekend away sounds really MSE, staying at a friends and just paying for a round of drinks is about as good as it gets! Could you stay for an extra night and just contribute some food that you would have been eating anyway, and give yourself a real break. You have had quite an exhausting few months, and this could be the re-charge that you need x.

  • Evening everyone

What a difference a day makes! My brother text today to say that he was coming to my parents with all his tribe for Friday night & could they stay, going home Saturday. Obviously Mum said yes. As it is his birthday today I feel I should really stay home & see him for it.

So I've saved the money I would have spent on petrol which is good actually as I don't really have it tbh - although I really would love to go away. My friend is lovely. He's slightly older than me and his 2 girls are at college & uni so when Littley & I go down to see him he likes to fuss and look after us. While this is lovely as I literally do nothing I have to try really hard not to take the mickey. He doesn't let me spend money, cook food or even make a cuppa. His theory is that when he was a single dad he would have done anything for a weekend like that so I must too. He also loves looking after people so we both get something from it. He's flippin' brill and I so wish I fancied him! haha

I went to Sains today to get my bro a present & they've got a 25% sale on clothing so I got him a top that I know he'll love for only £7.50. Can't argue with that. I also treated myself to some new jeans - there's only so long you can walk around with a hole in your thigh! Again, got the discount and only paid £13 for them. Finally, got 3 Easter Eggs at 80p each. It's probably really cheap chocolate but as they're not for me I don't care! lol

Anyway, finally finished work for today. Got a telephone interview for that as & when job tomorrow so fingers crossed that goes well.

    Have a good evening everyone! :) x

  • I love the sound of your male friend by the seaside, perhaps you can escape there for a long weekend in May! Your shopping spree in Sainsburys was amazingly productive and frugal, I may take a look in there today to see if any of the jeans fit me. Fingers and toes are crossed here for that job x.

  • Thanks Rainbow.

The sale in Sainsbury's is on til Monday I think. What is weird is that the standard 10 regular that I buy EVERYWHERE barely got over my knees! I have had to buy a pair of 12 short, how does that even work? Are Sainsbury's insinuating that if you're tall and a size 10 you must have the waist of a gnat? I'm 5ft 4" so didn't think I was short. Although that may be cuz I'm the tallest female in my family!

My friend by the sea is awesome. He's one of Littley's Spiritual Guardians and has always gone out of his way to make time for her which you need when a certain other male in her life can't be bothered.

The job interview I have today is at 6pm which is really inconvenient as it's bank holiday & family here but if I want it I have to show willing so will disappear for a little bit. Sure it'll be fine..... lol

    Have a great day! :) x

  • RE bike helmet, it's obv your choice but the helmet is to protect her head when she falls off, not to protect her from cars. I'm rather passionate about helmets, i fell ofd my bike when i was 9, with no cars around, landed on my head and smashed the helmet to pieces, had i not been wearing my helmet it would have been my skull that shattered. My math teachers nephew ended up with permnent brain damage after falling off his bike without a helmet-again no cars around.
Is it really worth taking that risk for the sake of twenty quid?
