They count even a single day late in those stats, and it blips up in Xmas every year.
It was 6-ish % a couple of months ago, and will no doubt fall back to those levels soon enough.
The separate series for "serious" arrears is much smaller, around 3% from memory.
That's the type of phrase people usually say about base rates, & also about house prices. Normally you'd ridicule them, suggest they look at the evidence & context, & not assume they'll return to the "norm".
What makes these different? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Because they are not seasonally adjusted and do this every year.
No different to Rightmove prices rising in summer and falling in winter. Every year.
The year on year trend is down....
Fewer people are in arrears this month this year compared to the same month last year.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/uk-immigration-fewer-than-30-romanian-arrivals-since-border-restrictions-lifted-says-countrys-ambassador-to-britain-9061674.htmlFewer than 30 Romanians have arrived in the UK since the lifting of border restrictions on New Year's Day, the country's ambassador to Britain estimates.
If this number is anything like true then is the 'flood of immigrants expected following the lifting of restrictions' the biggest media hoax since the Y2K bug?0 -
Couple of points on that.
Pre-January 1st it wasn't that difficult for Romanians and Bulgarians to come here. I know a few Bulgarians that have been here a few years. The conditions were along the lines of either being self-employed, a student, had a specific job to come to, family here, and so on. People who really wanted to come here could do so.
Secondly, the UK isn't all we crack it up to be. Yep, by and large it's nice enough. Nice enough people, weather is never extreme, economy compared to a lot of places is ok, reasonable standard of healthcare etc. But I think there is a certain British arrogance in some quarters about the idea that we have this wonderful, generous welfare system and an NHS which is the 'envy of the world'. Of course there'll be a tidal wave of foreigners, who wouldn't want to live here???
All in all I'm not so surprised people haven't all swarmed over; those that really wanted to come have likely done so already.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Yes.
A hoax actively assisted by deliberate fear-mongering for political gain by UKIP and the right wing of the Tory party.
Grossly irresponsible.I'm not so surprised people haven't all swarmed over; those that really wanted to come have likely done so already.
Exactly.
As more level heads were pointing out all along.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Ouch!
This is dire news.
Certainly puts a complete shadow over more trivial things like unemployment figures.
I am an animal lover, but there are limits! I shall urge my MP to get her colleagues to put a stop to any more badger culling, and re-direct resources into a rabbit cull - starting with areas of high Juniper Berry cultivation.
It is an outrage.0 -
I have a crack team of experts waiitng to spring into action on this very issue.
They just need the word to spring in to action and the problem of the rabbits will soon decline.

A generous offer, but wouldn't that take them away from the day job of peeing on the local Malt crops?0
