Hope you're all coping ok with the massive flood of migrants from Eastern Europe.
Presumably the next unemployment figures will be sky high as a result of the influx.
Any noticeable impact on rents yet?

The Romulans don't have the teleporter things that starfleet ships carry so they're having to walk here.0

they are already here as there was nothing stopping them come for the last few years.0

towards the middle of the week just gone i went for an after-work drink & bite to eat with an old chum who works for an american bank.
we'd arranged it a fair way in advance, before, i think, he realised that it would be the day when the size of his bonus was announced.
he's a fairly low key chap, and, like most of his office, bizarrely disappointed at the size of his paypacket, deciding to compare it to the sort of cash that was flying around circa 2007 rather than by any sensible standard.
so it was an accordingly low key evening. a bit of fast food, a few pints, nothing spectacular.
we decided to go back to our respective homes at 10pm or so but on a whim he instead asked if i'd like to go into what i'd call a lap dancing bar but i think these days might be called a 'burlesque' something or other. not having been into such a place for many a long year, i went along with it.
even in there we kept things low key, no danger of him paying for every girl in there to do a conga or whatever, we just a few drinks & whatnot.
i quickly remembered that i don't like such places, but, being earlyish in the night [by the standards of such establishments] & also midweek in january, it was so quiet in there that we found ourselves getting a fair bit of attention from the dancers. so i ended up speaking to perhaps around a dozen or so of them at one time or another.
of the dancers i spoke to i'd say that romania & various Balkan states accounted for as many as three quarters of them. the remainder were 2-3 english & i think one greek.
so there you are.
coming over here, taking our jobs, etc.FACT.0 -
I'd be happy with any bonus, Christmas included.the_flying_pig wrote: »...the day when the size of his bonus was announced.0 -
In a move to balance things out a bit, Mr Spirit is going to Romania and Bulgaria next week.
Exchange rate: 1 Mr Spirit = '000s of Romanians and Bulgarians.
Seems like a fair swap to me.
Simultaneously improves the average IQ of all countries

It would maybe have been more efficient to speak to them as a group...
You know. A sort of lecture about clean living, celebacy, the virtues of working hard, saving, living within your means, and saving up for that deposit rather than get trapped by soaring rental prices in London.....
I'm sure they would have listened and taken note.0 -

I imagine there would have been a fair amount of groin thrusting are at least groin wiggling going on.
It must be a nightmare at Gatwick, Heathrow and the other airports as thousands of Roma try to get their horses off the baggage carousels whilst begging at the same time.0 -

Merely my little joke. I heard a thing that said that about 2 dozen Romanians have migrated since 1st Jan. I'm throwing a little ridicule at the alarmists.0
