So has there been a new influx or are you just saying what you think might happen?0

Because of increased immigration from Romania and Bulgaria..? Seems more likely to be because of Christmas (see Hamish's post above).0

Tenant arrears worsened in December, as they do every year, with 9.7 per cent of rents late or unpaid.
But this is still an improvement compared with a year ago, when 10.1 per cent of rents were late.
LSL do not seasonally adjust their data in the index, so we see this pattern every year.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Is 9.7% high, in terms of long term trends? Sounds high.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

 Not really.
They count even a single day late in those stats, and it blips up in Xmas every year.
It was 6-ish % a couple of months ago, and will no doubt fall back to those levels soon enough.
The separate series for "serious" arrears is much smaller, around 3% from memory.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I was a bit spooked reading this.
There you were at 9:09 referring to Hamish's post (above) which was timed at 9:18.
Then I realised that maybe you use the default sorting of latest last, whereas I use the sorting of latest first.
 Takes all sorts.
Maybe you should avoid referring to Hamish's posts at all?0

I think that's probably what I'm thinking of, and why it sounded high.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Could the fact that rents are soaring have anything to do with this do you think?0

Rents have risen year on year.
Arrears have fallen year on year.
I suspect there will be much head scratching somewhere in Devon......:)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
