It's all a long story which I am tired of repeating (no offence intended) it's been very stressful. The reason she is only paying part, I reckon, is because she knows she's done wrong and I'm now in trouble but also because she wanted the coat at a lower price in the first place and thus way she gets what she wants. She feels guilty but knows if she pays all then it's like an admission of guilt.

Would love to know how all the negative people would deal with the same situation if it happened to them? Would you pay up and let them win putting yourself out of pocket? To win - firstly you need to know you are right and the other person is in the wrong, get facts and evidence and stick to your guns! Don't give up or be bullied by anyone and most of all don't let the other person get away with it!!! What goes around comes around I always say!

I don't think anyone has told you not to try and get your money back, just that refusing to pay the debt to Ebay was only ever going to end in more problems for you and would not affect the buyer in any way.

I wouldn't have taken it lying down. I would have taken photos/video of me opening the package. I would have provided eBay with as much info as possible.

However, for £58 I would not have gone much further if eBay had ruled against me.

I would not have added the buyer on fb. I may have considered reporting it as theft immediately and letting the buyer know through eBay questions.

But at £58 it would quickly stop being worth the time and effort, for me. Especially if debt collectors became involved.
  • well done you for fighting your corner, i do hope that if she is paying you and you do recieve the partial money you contact ebay with your proof of her part payment to you so they can see she has pretty much admitted guilt and hopefully they will side with you, good luck x
goal for 2014....i will manage money better ..must resist shopping..............:A

Thank you for asking but I am tired and drained now, there was positivity earlier now it's gone so I will leave here now. I will win as I am not in the wrong as well as the fact that I am not the thief here. Thanks for your interest
She wanted a refund and you wouldn't giver her a refund.
    That much I guessed.Why you wouldn't is anyone's guess.

You have obviously missed the point - if I got my coat back I would have refunded her but she didn't send it back so why would I refund her?????

When someone off ebay wants a refund, they usually contact me and I tell them to send it back-but you said eBay asked her to send it back which suggested to me you refused to.

From memory (too lazy to actually go look!) I think the OP said that the buyer wanted to keep the coat but be given money back as well. When this was refused they complained to Ebay, who said to send back for a full refund.
