Nissan Micras... especially red ones.

Is there some little known piece of legislation that requires old style Nissan Micras, possibly just red ones, to be driven no faster than half the prevailing speed limit?

I've just taken twice as long as usual to get back from the local town because I was stuck in a massive queue trailing back behind one these ridiculous conveyances. Even on derestricted (national speed limit for those of you too young to remember the heady days of no speed limit at all) sections of the road the car barely reached 30 mph.

I thought my head was going to explode.

Exactly why we should be able to arm our cars with missiles.

Although. It could have been worse. 60mph A road at 40mph, Then 40mph through the school crossing which is a 20 or 30mph zone.

    Needle glued to 40mph.... WHY?

I swear they fall out of the sky round our way, right in front of you, and tootle long at 18mph. You also see them in the distance as you drive along a long straight road, just poking out of a side road. Nothing in front of you or behind you, and just as you get there, they pull out right in front of you and crawl along at less than half the speed limit.

You do actually see long lines of slow traffic with a Micra at the head, with nothing in front of them as far as the eye can see.

Give them a chance, it depends on the direction and speed of the wind at the time. Should it be combined with an uphill incline, they are forced into reverse :D

They seem to be driven by ex-HGV drivers who put their seat in the the same road position as in a 40 tonner, at least 8 feet from the kerb.

Quite frightening to face one in a lane less than 25 feet wide

My wife has one of these, I think she would give you a run for your money!

These days I see expensive & powerful cars that are equally a pain, they have the power but want to go slow.

    I don't doubt it.

Running, I'd be hard pressed to reach 6 mph.

In my experience it's not Micras that are particularly slow.

That accolade goes to Citroen Berlingos (nearly always that weird metallic blue-green colour), any small 4x4s and especially old Land Rovers.

Black Corsas seem to be the bane of my life on motorways for some reason. Only ever black ones -- maybe the same car all the time, I'm not sure...

..and also slow down to walking pace when approaching anything more than a kink in a straight road

  • Not just red Micras though they are hopeless and driven with about as much enthusiasm as one who chose such a horrible little washing machine could muster, but whats the score with white vans.

Either driven lunatic style by someone, presumably on day release, who's back side is one fire, or the exact opposite so slow as to be getting in the way of red Micras, never seen one driven normally.
