Thank you all, the online support is so valuable - there's so much talking that needs to be done, typing online actually feels much better ...

Believe it or not, I have my tax papers out today ... I've got to use what time I've got down here, tax return still needs doing.

Thank you greent :) looking after myself tends to mean going to bed when it suits me, having long hot showers, and watching pleasant, mindless DVDs - at the moment, I've watched The Grand Tour, and I have a copy of Season 1 of Death in Paradise for £2.40, which pleases me no end.

I've altered my journey next week for a 2nd time - going on the Tuesday, not the Thursday, assuming no worst case before then. We need a changeover time between me and my sister, so I can see exactly how nursing duties are currently performed. It changes every day, but as I won't have been there for 2 weeks or more, it's essential to be brought up to speed safely.

Hospital bed arrives tomorrow. Room is being cleared of both confidential papers and now-surplus-to-requirements-furniture so that night sitters can be employed sometimes :(

I've been looking on here at the Bereavement section of the forum, found a note that sometimes insurance companies lapse cover when a person dies, so I've been liaising with my mum's about that. They're fine, as long as the house is occupied, which it will be.

I'm winning against the overgrown laurel in my garden - I saw down two or three trunk-like branches a day (in total, they're over 25 feet tall  so each one gets sawn into 3 and stacked for later disposal), they're thinning out nicely - I'm pretty sure now that even in a storm, they wouldn't be so over-burdened by the wind that they came crashing down on something, which was my fear.

The tax - not done much, I had to pay attention to the post, the maintenance people in France are taking the mick, they're costing more than the mortgage this year :( Might try to do a bit tonight - like, exactly **what** are all those Amazon purchases this time last year? Did I do my Christmas shopping on Amazon? It's likely, but I've no clue  hopefully there are some legitimate expenses claims i can make ... we'll see.

Just popping in to say hi KC :hello: Hope you're ok. Good idea to have some changeover time for learning nursing duties, gosh, it sounds like a difficult situation for all of you. Glad you're taking care of yourself too.

I thought of you and your laurel today - for some bizarre reason I've got one giant willow stem that's much longer than the others and I keep meaning to cut it down but not getting round to it. Very impressed at your lopping! :j

 grr to French maintenance people though - how very extortionate! Bet you'll be glad when that whole thing is over and done with.

    Take care xx

Turns out I couldn't read and run. I'm heading up there today, not next Tuesday, all three of us will be there. Neighbours are keeping an eye on my house for me, which is nice.

Worried about falling ill and being more of a hindrance than a help - the minute I had to change my plans again, I felt a sore throat come on, and it won't go, even with salt gargles etc. Psychosomatic! And annoying.

Healthy and helpful, that's the mantra, nice phrasing too. That's what I'll take with me, and lots of healthiness and helpfulness from here too, thank you lovely peeps
