    Hello all, thank you for the good wishes. Back again, and my next planned trip up there is the middle of next month, for various reasons, though I might have to go up there earlier, of course.

    Although the health emergency is still ongoing, I've also learned a few handy mse tips:

    - we needed to buy something from Boots, at short notice, for my mum. Neither of us had any web connection :eek: so we actually had to phone up and give a reference number for the product concerned, and the woman on the helpline let my brother use my credit card with just a spoken "yes" from me to confirm it was okay. No security checks other than what was printed on the card :eek: Astonishing! My Visa cards have more checks and balances, but not my Mastercard.

    - I had to change an Advance rail ticket, the super-cheapo ones, and as long as you haven't printed it out, you can still get a refund on them, I *think* if you buy another ticket, not sure. There's a £10 admin charge, which is a slap in the face with a wet kipper, but better than a slap in the face with TWO wet kippers :D

    Just getting straight and regrouping today.


    PS - we started to look for paperwork, with my mum's permission, and almost at the last gasp, we found my letters from 1976, covering the French au pair period, perfect for the new Kindle book! She even numbered them in order of receipt :o:o:o the book will definitely be dedicated to her.
