Really sorry to hear your news KC, it seems so out of the blue, so must be a big shock for you. Plus, not easy when you live a long way away
As already said, thank heavens you haven't got to juggle clients as well.
Look after yourself xxEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Thank you both - the timescale is unknown, of course, so we're all being very careful with one another. My go bag is packed (I took ages to do that, much longer than I thought I would!) there have been lots of (planned) visitors over the last few days, and all in all it's going as well as this period of time can.
It's odd for someone so elderly to get an aggressive cancer, and you're right Goldie, it's come out of the blue, and its because of that. I always remember hearing about how our rate of cell division slows as we age, and thats why elderly people can live for ages with cancer, but this one isn't like that.
Anyway, Asda have been and gone, once again I forgot how much cheaper they are than Sainsboso cheap I finally bought my new kettle - the old one is *so* old the plastic around the spout is disintegrating into the water
:o:o
And I'm tidying and throwing things like crazyit's apparent on the Kon Mari thread on here that this kind of situation has that effect on most people. Plus my retirement, of course
Hope everyone's well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Yes, just saw your sad news too. I hope that you will be able to have some quality time together. Xx very best wishes to you all.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thank you both, much appreciated.
All of this is every day reality - and for lots of other people going through similar situations, of course - but I'm getting the feeling I don't want to blather about it in the same way as I do about everything else. I realised that as I was writing something in response just now - so that's appreciated too, thanks again!
So I must focus more on mse stuffywotsits:
- tidying today, yet again, which is very mse
- felt well enough to get back to chopping up some laurel leaves
- trying to put photos on my kindle - it doesn't seem to work any more, it bleeping well used to, doesn't work by cable either
- contacted the local supermarket to check on their pharmacy for the flu jab - they're doing it weekly!!! But their in house pharmacy has another branch in my town, and its a walk in service, so I'll pop there tomorrow. Its in a different direction, good job I checked  I'll see what else I can do at the same time, maybe drop off some stuff at the charity shop.
Hope everyone has a good evening.Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Flu jab yesterday! Finally
Cost £10, which I consider to be very good, especially as I didn't check the price beforehand
and I remember paying £12 a few years ago. Lloyds Pharmacy are v cool
Agony overnight though! The story of a bad night's sleep, where I *started* waking up at 11.30, is too boring to read, so I won't write itbut I seem to have caught up a little bit.
While I was out, I collected the kilim that was in my therapy room - its going to go back in there when I'm ready, I'm wondering about moving the bed in there before I've repainted, and I think I will, actually - more important to get the office straight, as I use it much more and the bed is stuck in there currently. Bedroom tetris! It never stops
Today's decision: do I pay for Amazon Prime, using the discount thats on offer till the end of today, it comes to the same as I allowed myself to spend on charity shop DVDs, a fiver a month. And there are plenty of things I want to see. I'd use my laptop at first, but when I have the tech energy, I could hook up my smart tv to get it, especially as my router is currently downstairs (the extension to upstairs was part of my previous internet problems).
It's a great First World problem to have!
To-do list is on my phone. We'll see how much gets done.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

But you know what? I was doing a price up of what benefits you actually get from Prime (cos there's so much written about it, I wanted a concrete example) ... erm, I accidentally signed myself up for the free month's trial. And when I thought, burger it, I'll go for the £59 deal ... it told me I couldn't have it, because I was already a member :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You know what, life's too short. The free trial finishes on the day I leave for Christmas holibobs in any case, so while I'm here and not up north, I'll binge watch like crazy, including mornings ... I never even saw Season 1 of Downton Abbey. Or any other season, come to that. I almost bought Cloud Atlas the other day, and thats on Prime too
To-do list. Not bad, actually:
- contacted plumber re routine visit for ongoing maintenance. I've left it a bit lateam currently in text discussions.
- lots of laurel cut up and bagged. There's a rubbish collection on Sunday which will take green waste, and I *might* make it there with some of it.
- dishwasher on. Not the washing machine
- phoned up north, all is okay.
- renewed library book.
- got details of journey to collect ticket.
Could have done more, but it is what it is.Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0
